Segmint.com – Analytics software that creates pinpoint marketing for financial institutions. QA of front and back-end functionality using manual & automated web testing Firefox / Selenium – PostgreSQL

Segmint (3 years of automated Selenium & manual testing in Agile environment)

I reported to the CIO/CRO ( Chief Information Officer, Chief Risk Officer / board member) of the company. Our clients were banking institutions, so I was responsible for observing & reporting on anything that would appear to risk government regulated data.

I was the first person hired into Segmint for the purpose of beginning a quality assurance program. Segmint operated in an AGILE environment with a scrum master and daily standup meetings with software pushes every 3 weeks. I assisted in recruiting one developer and one other QA person into Segmint to grow the QA department and train team members in the product. I researched the tools available and held meetings and demos to consider purchase or free open source software for QA. We looked at Selenium and other tools, while I participated in negotiating purchases for proprietary tools. I used Selenium for front end web based testing and I used SQL queries for backend data entry testing following industry standard practice. The operation was hosted thru Amazon including client/server, web based, web services. I used basic Selenium, along with plugins and I developed my own extensions in Javascript for my internal use only. Pages were designed using a combination of Angular JS, XML, CSS and Javascript, so my tests often written to look for and flag changes in these areas.

I managed the Redmine bug tracking software, performing classification, assignment, sorting, searching, reporting, access control, prioritizing bugs as blockers, outliers, and numbered priorities. These items were discussed in the standups. Once a month I prepared reports showing the bug tracking items and totals fixed, open, etc.

I prepared training manuals, online videos, and flowcharts for various presentations for client services, new developer hires etc. to demo the product and bring employees up to speed.

All tickets were entered with descriptions, screen shots, and steps to replicate. All automated tests were maintained, developed daily, and run frequently. I performed all my tests in a Linux based laptop with Firefox, also running virtual box for windows Internet explorer 8, 9, 10, 11 and Chrome. All bug tracking stated the various browsers and versions explicitly. All automated/manual tests were documented in Libre Office spreadsheets. Manual testing core functionality always followed automated tests for deeper analysis.

Tests created looked at both positive and negative testing, security checks for browser cross site surfing, logins, logouts, good/bad data entered, password maintenance functions, and 1600+ other individual tests. I was responsible for tracking, and reviewing all closed tickets (supposedly resolved or otherwise) with automated testing.

I assisted in agile meetings where developers assigned and rated tasks for the next push. I used Trello task manager, updating, and noting meeting discussions for various tasks. Trello was used every morning in the standups to discuss daily tasks.

Communicating with team members in-house or remote, using gmail, powerpoint, Skype, or water cooler chats occurred only as often as necessary outside of mandatory morning standups. Team members were stretched thin due to startup sized operation. Segmint had employees from 15 - 30 over various times (6 devs).

I was brought onboard to companies in the past where I was introduced to new tools or languages and quickly learned or adapted my existing knowledge. CADOL, RUBY Language and Selenium are 3 examples.

Back up practices included automated and manual storage to GIT Repositories for my automation test suite.

My reference letter (attached) from Segmint describes me as willing to solve challenges, acceptance for new tools and techniques. University of Akron
