Charged with the task of improving the productivity and profitability of an iconic Canadian retail company through implementing process improvements for consistency, streamlining and revenue generation

Led a management team in developing and executing a Power Centre Strategy to launch a new outlet based division – ‘Roots 73’

Collaborated with top design firm, Burdifileck, to develop and design a prototype for a nationwide launch of this new store design concept

Led a 1500-employee Retail Sales division with full P&L responsibility across all areas including: Visual Display, Loss Prevention, Customer Service and Field Operations

Directly managed a team that included: Director of Visual Display (with 3 direct reports), Direct of Loss Prevention (with 2 direct reports), 2 Operations Regional Directors (with 10 direct reports), Customer Service Supervisor (with 2 direct reports)

New Process

Implementation

Developed and implemented key initiatives such as a structured Wage Plan, Incentive Plans for all Retail Positions, Employee Productivity Reporting and Inventory Management with the following key results:

Reduced wages as a % of sales 11.8% to 8.8%

Reduced sales staff turnover: 110% to 75%

Reduced Management turnover: 36% to 30%

Reduced Management Vacancy Rate: 10% to 3%

Reduced Company Shrink: 5% to 2.2%

Traffic Counters: Partnered with a traffic counting company in order to continue sales growth through productivity with a system that combines traffic counting analysis with on-line scheduling. Consequently developed and launched a successful pilot project to measure results and ROI, which yielded a significant

(+10%) increase in store closing ratios

Balanced Scorecard: Developed an evaluation system for the field that links sales to performance and the accountability of wages, shrink and productivity to each team member. Based on the success of the initial roll-out to the Management Team, a balanced score card was developed for all other positions
