FINAL YEAR PROJECT
Title: Design, analysis and CFD validification of the results of “Cyclone Separators” Description: Cyclone separators provide a method of removing particulate matter from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. Rotational effects and gravity are used to separate mixtures of solids and fluids. They are widely used in the processing, oil and gas (removal of high-cost catalysts from gases), and cement industries to separate dust and particles from gas flows and are used to reduce air pollution originating in chimney smoke from chemical plant drier equipment. The goal of this project is to design (Using PTC Creo Pro-E and Auto CAD), simulate (in ANSYS FLUENT, CFX, ICEM) and analyze a cyclone separator that is optimized for maximum efficiency and minimum pressure drop.
