DETAILED PT JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Restore and preserve range of motion through mobilization techniques and exercise.

• Evaluate muscle length and perform stretching exercise and soft tissue mobilization to enhance muscle elasticity.

• Perform muscle strength and quantification.

• Evaluate and train sitting and standing balance, transfers and mobility including wheelchair use and ambulation. Progressive gait training with or without ambulatory aids and includes instruction in negotiating barriers and obstacles such as rough grounds, ramps and stairs.

• Offer exercise to increase strength, endurance and coordination of specific muscle groups or the entire body.

• Assess skin integrity and sensation and provide precautionary instructions to skin care.

• Manage deem and musculoskeletal pain by physical measures.

• Offers various physical therapy modalities such as both superficial and deep, heat and cold, as well as hydrotherapy techniques, electrical stimulation, traction and massage.

• Performs auscultation to lung fields and renders percussion and vibration, breathing exercise, intensive spirometer and postural drainage in some settings.

• Aid in home evaluations to make the environment barrier free and accessible.

• Teach functional employment skills, including proper lifting techniques, functional strength testing and ergonomic consideration.

• May assume responsibilities in the administration of a department, supervision of other physical therapists, academic or clinical teaching, clinical or laboratory research.
