Set-up and run CNC VTL, HAAS Mills, manual machining using Bullard and Toshiba VTL, DeVeliegs, Heald I.D. grinder and Campbell Vertical grinder. Modified related tooling, interpreted blueprints and rebuilt damaged aircraft engine blades and components. Read precision measuring instruments, used all tool room equipment to manufacture or repair tooling components. Set-up and performed all standard and non-standard operations on lathes, mills, grinders and other tool room machines. Managed and scheduled a work force of 45 union employees.
Brought thermal spray processes in-house. Passed all customer quality evaluations and reduced turnaround time from 5 -7 days to 8 hours.
Slashed labor and materials cost in thermal spray cell by creating reusable, hard masking. Reduced average masking time from 5 hours to 1.75 hours.
Eliminated 40% of midspan welding by checking cross spans with a Tesa guage. Saved the cost of polishing, stress relief and x-ray inspection.
Worked closely with Engineering Team to solve unusual problems.
Captured additional business from Rolls Royce by meeting their ambitious time lines. Set-up cell and trained personnel on thermal spray process. The resulting 99% on-time delivery made this one of the corporation’s most successful programs.
Helped introduce Kaizen methods and initiated a zone management plan.
