Application: Merchant Interactive (MI) - Merchant Interactive is a suite of products offered to Merchants that accepts Amex card. It includes Dispute management, Payments to Merchant and Online account Management. It’s is web based application. Data is stored in DB2 tables and it is sent to front end (Web based screen) using DB2 Stored Procedure. The database is refreshed by batch jobs written JCL. I have worked on several new features and enhancements in this application which includes –

Implementation of Disputes Functionality in EMEA

Implementation of Rich Internet Based Disputes Functionality in JAPA and LAC

Design of Global Dispute database for International and Domestic Markets.

Implementation of GMAR and Omniture tagging in OMS application

Project 1 - Regulation Demand Deposit (Sept, 2009 – April 2010, HSBC, Pune, India)

Scope: Demand Deposit is an accounting system at HSBC. The application is known as DDA. The objective of this project is to make the required changes to DDA systems to address disclosure requirements related to overdrafts and Bring HSBC disclosures into compliance with revised Regulation DD amendments as noted in the final rule published in December 2008. The effective date for these Regulation DD amendments was January 1, 2010.

6 New COBOL program were developed to make this amendments. It’s a batch process and source of data is QSAM and VSAM files.

Project 2 - Client Service Menu (Aug, 2008 – Aug 2009, HSBC, Buffalo, NY)

Scope: Designed a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based front end Application written in Java. The user facing screen (Front end screen) interacts with CICS Online programs via MQ series and gets the data stored in DB2 database. This application is used by users to set up new wholesale deposit customers and accounts for the bank.

Project 3 - National Check Encashment (Nov 07 – Jul 08, HSBC, Buffalo, NY)

Scope: Designed a product called National Check Encashment for the commercial customers of the Bank. To accommodate partnership between our Payments and Cash Management Division (PCM) and Certegy, this product provides Certegy with payroll “check issue” data from our clients that are subsequently used to verify the payroll checks which may be presented for payment at various retail businesses, via Certegy terminals.

Project 4 - Teller Positive Pay (Nov 07 – Jul 08, HSBC, Buffalo, NY)

Scope: Bank’s Official check data was sent to third party for verification and payment. A new in house application called Teller Positive Pay was developed to handle this process. BMS screens were developed which interacts with CICS online program to find the status of a check. The screen were also used for update the status of a check real time. The data was stored in VSAM files.

Project 5 - Customer Profile System (Jan 06 – Oct 07, HSBC, Pune, India)

Scope: The Customer Profile panel is an enquiry-only function that is the first point of reference for users when either in contact with, or preparing for contact with HSBC customers.

Developed new CICS program and modified existing CICS programs for MCD Phase 1.2 UK functionalities which includes RM Portfolio, Contact History, Contact Logging, Account Summary, Account Plan, Individual Solution Enquiry/Update/History etc. This online program calls Customer Data utility and Band data utility programs to get customer and bank data respectively. The database was Db2.

Responsibilities:

Onshore Coordination - I was onshore coordinator and was poasted at Buffalo, NY from Nov – 2007 to Sept, 2009. Coordinating with onshore and offshore team was primary responsibility.

Project Name: Merrill Lynch Global Core and Reporting (Sept 05 – Dec 05, Zensar, Pune)

Scope: Merrill Lynch is one of the world’s leading financial management and advisory companies with offices in 44 countries. Merrill Lynch handles total client asset of $1.4 trillion. Merrill Lynch is a leading global underwriter of debt and equity securities and strategic advisor to corporations, governments, institutions and individuals worldwide. ZenSar India in association with Fujitsu Consulting is involved in 7 X 24 production support, enhancements and maintenance of Mutual Fund application at Merrill Lynch. The application is developed in Cobol, DB2, CICS on mainframe. It is a batch system comprising 1600 jobs.

The application is sub divided in two modules namely

1.CORE

2.Reporting

CORE – CORE is a critical module in Mutual Fund processing cycle. It takes in all executed orders for Merrill Lynch Mutual Funds and settles for broker/dealer as well as for proprietary business. After orders are flown in CORE, various jobs run to calculate the different fees, charges and commissions. Once the trade is generated position, profit-loss, credit and other back office related files are updated in CORE. This is a daily job and provides data to various reporting modules. Originally CORE was online software but was customized and standardized for Merrill Lynch’s use.

Project – POLA OCM

Client - POLA

Designation – Associate Consultant at Zensar Technologies, Pune

Scope: Migration of POLA OCM. POLA is one of the biggest cosmetics firm in Japan. OCM is a system used by the POLA people (sales members) to register orders online. The system has various functions like order registering, Order correction, correction and enquiry of returned products and enquiry of order status. POLA OCM programs are written in PL/1 which interacts with CICS. The jobs are written in Job Control Language (JCL) and the data is stored in VSAM files. The POLA OCM application which is running on mainframe environment were migrated to GUI bases front end application written in Java and

Role: Cobol Developer

Responsibility:

I was involved in production support and Implementation of change request which includes changing Job Control Language, COBOL programs etc depending on the requirement.
