Site Operations Manager and Technical Support for a manufacturer of two Large Wind Turbine farms in North Iowa, Top of Iowa Wind Farm in Joice, Iowa and Hancock County Wind Farm.

As a Site Manager for the manufacturer, we performed the construction, service and warranty to the Top of Iowa Wind Farm, which encompasses 89 Wind Turbines, approximately 134 Million Dollars in equipment, and 80 MW output. At Hancock, which is only warranty obligations, there are 148 Wind Turbines, approximately 113 Million Dollars in equipment, and 93 MW output. Provide service and warranty of 17 remote Wind Turbines in Minnesota and Iowa and GTMO, Cuba.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Contract development and renewals consisting of gate meetings, RFP’s RFQ’s, and pre-discovery meetings to determine best practices and options for the customer and present collected data to customer. Instrumental in developing OME/OMS service supply agreements and extended warranty agreements based on Service data. Defining park operation plans, service schedules.

Supervise and provide local technical support for up to 26 service technicians and 2 site administration personnel. Manage HSE site functions. Serves as liaison between land owners/customer and corporate office on technical issues. Manage resources and gives daily direction to local staff and site technicians. Daily interaction with vendors/customers for sites. Developed and responsible for site budget ($1.9 million). Travel 25%. Responsible for $4.5 Million parts inventory. Facilitate sales to customer during and after warranty phase. Supervise and approve all admin functions to maintain budgetary guideline for the site. 2005 budget was under 19% of expected cost.

Read and interpret technical documentation and drawings. Determine, monitor and facilitate repairs as necessary and maintain all records for equipment within warranty guidelines. Inventory and maintain tools and parts necessary to facilitate warranty and service contracts. Monitor Wind Farms via SCADA application (WindMan, Second Wind, Vestas Online), perform necessary resets to wind turbines. Design and write monthly reports using Microsoft Office applications to manage and monitor site effectiveness. Currently the site is running at 99.49% overall project availability, 99.75% for the Month of Feb. 2006.

Supervise, train and schedule all technicians in their daily functions of Wind Turbine repair which include and is not limited to Electrical, High and Low Voltage repairs, Hydraulics, Mechanical, Electronics, Health, Safety and Environmental on 2 Large wind farms. Manage and facilitate repairs utilizing 210, 500 and 750 ton cranes on site while maintaining an excellent safety record.

Have integrated design changes to Cincinatti Centerless Grinders that increase productivity, reduce wheel usage, increase quality and increase surface finish quality as much as 80% to all aspects.

Machine design. Have integrated Allen Bradely 8600 CNC’s, AB9/Series CNC’s, AB SLC’s with Center and Centerless Grinders.

Have invented and implemented Dress on the Fly applications for Centerless, Center and Center- less Profile Grinders. These ideas have given the manufacture the ability to maintain dimensional characteristics of +/- .0001”. This has also saved the Manufacturer approximately $805,000 per/yr. This application had been attempted many times, but never accomplished previously. Patent applied for and obtained.
