Researcher with strong scientific background, excellent presentation and interpersonal skills along with the knowledge of project management seeks a transition from academic research to the field of clinical research.

SUMMARY OF STRENGTHS:

Postdoctoral fellow with 4 years research experience in neuroscience, and PhD in cancer biology.

Developed and managed a research project end to end; including writing project proposal, cost estimations, ethics approvals, institutional review board (IRB) application and formulating time lines.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills developed by attending meeting to develop research proposals, writing and reviewing publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and effective presentation of scientific data at various national and international conferences (Poster presentation as well as oral presentations at various national and international conferences).

Using previous research expertise and written communication skills, secured the Postdoctoral Fellowship from Neuroinflammation Training Program in 2012 and an Educational Grant form Novartis Canada for 2 years in 2013.

Completed a project management course to familiarize with business acumen and gain insight into the fundamental principles of project management, formulation of a project plan and better understanding of tradeoffs between time, costs, scope and resources.

Proficient in computer softwares like MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, EndNote, GraphPad (bio statistical analysis), ImageJ (image analysis), Adobe Photoshop.

Areas of Expertise:

Neuroscience, scientific writing and publications, preparing lectures for teaching, cell based assays, primary rat and human cell cultures, cell and molecular biology, microscopy, project management.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Post-doctoral Fellow - Montreal Neurological Institute, November 2010 – June 2015.

As a postdoctoral fellow I conducted independent scientific research investigating Neuro-glial interactions in health and disease and the capacity of neurons to solicit glial responses. I developed and validated innovative methodologies and standardized protocols for various cell based assays (adhesion, migration, proliferation, morphological analysis, nitric oxide assays). As a senior member of the lab I supervised undergraduate and graduate students for their research projects and trained them in the use of various computer softwares for effective analysis and presentation of data.

Using a novel proteomics approach, we discovered that neural-derived factors can reciprocally regulate the expression of distinct molecules on the surface of astrocytes and OPC, expected to be involved in glial functions relevant to both normal development and repair from injury. Using an educational grant from Novartis Canada, I am currently studying how these processes may be influenced by immunomodulatory therapies for multiple sclerosis (MS) like FTY720 and BAF.

Assistant Professor - Shoolini University of Biotechnology, India, July - Oct 2010.

Junior Research Fellow - Institute of Microbial Technology, and Avesthagen, India, March 2004 - December 2005.

EDUCATION:

Comprehensive Project Management - McGill University, Canada, 2015

This course provides me with the project management educational requirements to be eligible for a Project Management Professional (PMP) Credential.

PhD - University of Otago, New Zealand, May 2010

Thesis title - “Investigation of role and function of GLIPR1 in gliomas and melanomas”

Bachelor and Master of Science (Biophysics) - Panjab University, India
