IP Research 2007 to 2008

Alexandria, Virginia

Subcontractor conducting research on patent ideas. New electrical hardware patent ideas were researched. Many of the patent concepts involved techniques for converting power from AC to DC and from DC to AC. Motor control for example provides a current signal as an input to an engine fuel system controller. Electrical controls and hydraulics systems experience. Researched all of Caterpillars latest technologies. Have thorough understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical technologies.

USPTO 2006 to 2007

Alexandria, Virginia

Examined patent applications. Patent applications were in the semiconductor electronics field. Also examined electronics hardware patents.

ARTI/Army Research Laboratory 2004 to 2005

Adelphi, Maryland

Worked as a contractor on VOX, which is short for a voice operated switch. Work included writing my own assembly language program to code the microcontroller. Used oscilloscope and logic analyzer to make sure circuit functioned correctly. Designed and soldered onto board an RC filter to get rid of unwanted PWM noise. The input to the circuit is an analog signal. Then converted the analog signal into digital data that is saved on the microcontroller memory and used to detect an audio signal. Once audio signal is detected, a device is turned on and once there is no audio signal the device is turned off. The digital data is then pulse width modulated and run through a low pass filter to reproduce the original analog signal with minimal noise. This project dealt with A/D conversion, op-amps, oscilloscope tests, logic analyzer tests, bit resolution, resistors, capacitors, and a pic18lf2220 microcontroller. Started this project by making a flow-chart of the steps required to complete the circuit and finished with a report and a working circuit. Also designed and manufactured 3 microphone preamplifiers. Extensive systems engineering tasks were implemented in the laboratory. Testing to ensure reliability of systems was conducted. Product accuracy and reliability were major priorities in the systems engineering side of implementation. Also worked with marines at Camp Pendleton to test speech translation software.

TeckTel Inc., 2003 to 2004.

Herndon, VA

Worked as a network engineer. Duties included design of wireless communications networks using Motorola’s advanced canopy system. Configured wireless bridges and made decisions based on technical data that was found by testing equipment. Worked with VOIP, SIP, and TCP/IP systems. Worked with redundant power supply servers, 802.11b wireless networks, amplifying antennas, encryption, Motorola’s 2.4 Ghz canopy system, and Cisco equipment. I am now able to set up communications networks that cover big areas. As Network Engineer, typical duties included understanding of network routing fundamentals, and network transmission principles to troubleshoot switch and router configurations
