Awal Gulf Manufacturing Co, Bahrain is one of the leading manufacturers in the field of Air-conditioning and Refrigeration in the Middle –East. This company runs three manufacturing facilities in Bahrain which manufactures over 500K units of Air conditioners and split air conditioners, around 80K freezer and 20-25K package Air conditioners every year with track record of over 20% growth every year. They produce a wide range of non-ducted systems which weight up to 25 Tons in made to stock environment and ducted units along with heat pumps in made to order environment. In addition to this Awal Gulf, also manufactures AHU and chillers in made to order scenarios.
Blue Star Limited, India has six manufacturing subsets in India; it is one of the largest Indian companies in the air-conditioning line of business. They manufacture a wide range of Water Coolers, Room Air Conditioners, and Split Air conditioners in Made-to-Stock manufacturing environment along with Ducted Units and Heat pumps in made-to-order manufacturing environment.
JOB PROFILE
1.Materials Management
Ensuring timely and uninterrupted supply of raw material to the manufacturing in line with marketing / production requirements.
Solely responsible for sourcing of raw material like Copper, Aluminium and Steel.
Ensured availability of the correct quality of material at the right time and at the right price from a reliable source.
Inventory control and implementation of modern Inventory management tools.
Continuous focus on Inventory turns and to work with the Suppliers to monitor Supplier wise Inventory turns.
2.Vendor Development
Global Sourcing and identifying sources from China, Thailand and other countries for improved quality and competitive pricing.
Costing of the bought-out components, to ensure logical pricing and linking the costing to commodity price fluctuations.
Identifying and working with the supplier who needs to be up-graded in terms of skills and facilities in order to meet required quality standards.
Experience in working closely with engineering on product development projects by locating right sources and alternative materials and to ensure that production deadlines are met.
3.Logistics
Instrumental in roping in shipping lines for FCL shipments against FF and inviting them for rate contracts. This not only reduced freight charges but also reduced transit time of components.
Finalizing annual contract with shipping lines, freight forwarders and Clearing agents for the in-bond movements of the material.
Monitoring performance of shipping lines, freight forwarders and clearing agents.
Worked closely with shipping lines and freight forwarders towards reducing the logistic cost.

Global Sourcing:
Instrumental in shifting the supplier base for chest freezers components from European sources to the Far East and Asia where by material cost reduction of 10% could be achieved.
Also developed various alternative sources for Air conditioners and Split air conditioners components from Far East with cost reduction targets of over 1.2% annually (year on year).
Institutionalized competitive sourcing of commodities like Copper, Aluminium and steel by methodically booking raw material based on LME by target based booking and closely monitoring moving average with improvement targets.
Substantial reduction in the freight cost by filing rate contracts with shipping lines/freight forwarders.
Inventory Control
Successful implementation of statistical inventory control through ERP LN for B and C-class components, by scientifically working on ROL, consumption pattern consumption rate and periodically updating the data in ERP.
Worked as a part of cross functional team on Forecasting project for the made-to-stock environment.
Worked as a part of cross functional team, studying competitor’s products and accordingly benchmarking products for reducing cost and improving product quality.
Value Engineering and Cost Reduction
Instrumental and actively participated in various value Engineering programs like changeover to ETS packing from normal LWC, usage of light weight copper tubes.
Worked with engineering towards Standardization of components.
Achieved cost reduction of over 1.2% of material cost ( approx $ 1.2 Mil / year) consecutively for last seven years, by alternate sourcing, alternate material, negotiations and operation based costing.

BaaN Implementation
The project involved implementation of Manufacturing, Distribution and Finance packages of BaaN-IV ERP solution. The system went live on August 1st 2000.
Pre-implementation & Implementation
Involved in discussing existing business processes and to explain business requirements by interviews with consultants and to make them understand about the documents in circulation. Preparation of As-Is Process document.
Formulation of To-Be Process by business process mapping workshops with Consultants and simulations on Baan IV package. Preparation of To-Be Process model
Discussed information to the Consultants, for specific business situations, in the areas of manufacturing.
Analyzed the functional gaps between the standard Baan functionality and the business requirements.
Worked with consultants to understand the implications of various system parameters within which the business process mapping is completed.
Ensured adequate documentation in consonance with Software Audit requirements of the organization.
Post-implementation
