Assists veterans who have recently or who are currently preparing to transition from active military service to private-sector employment in identifying personal goals and planning career moves.

To date, approximately 68% of veterans help through my direct assistance have successfully obtained private industry jobs and private-sector visibility has increased by 100%.

Classification Specialist, State of Alabama, Department of Corrections, Elmore, AL February 2005 – July 2006

Successfully managed the classification and assessments of a caseload of 300 male state adjudicated inmates regarding custody level, work assignments, educational requirements, parole recommendations and transfers. This included receiving, reviewing, coordinating, maintaining, and managing records on a variety of criminal case actions.

Successfully managed to help one adjudicated young man who had been wrongly classified as a sex offender by advocating on his behalf to have the sex offender status removed and, as a result, he was released on parole within a 3-month period as a direct result of my actions.

As a member of the prison job boards I was able to provide positive input to board for placement of a significant number of inmates to attend GED classes, trade school/college or to receive needed substance abuse programs.

Frequently communicated and worked closely with other agencies (i.e. courts and law enforcement agencies) at the local, state & federal levels and, as a result, was able to block the release of many offenders who still had outstanding warrants or illegal immigrant holds with the Immigration & Naturalization Service.

HR Administrator, Troy University, Montgomery, AL August 1992 – February 2005

Successfully recruited candidates for employment including executives, faculty, professionals, technical, & hourly-paid classified positions meeting 100% compliance with federally mandated, court-ordered consent decree.

At the request of the University’s President, I successfully prepared and negotiated all offers of employment and employment contracts for both faculty and staff positions.

Investigated and successfully managed various employee complaints involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission along with Hostile Work Environment and Sexual Harassment complaints with a 100% success rate.

I identified the need and successfully performed job analysis & developed job descriptions for all positions at Troy’s Montgomery Campus and I also conducted job analysis and design for all proposed new positions. As a result of my actions, I was advised that I would be tasked with do the same for all of the Troy University Campuses once the merger of the campuses took place.

Successfully managed all aspects of the campus’ personnel records maintenance and administration and the HRIS system.
