RELATED ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Web Programming: Hospital Access Control System

Tools: NetBeans IDE 6.8 and StarUML

Synopsis: This project allows hospital staffs to access information of patient and keeps track of all records. The project included following functionality/activities:

Developed database system to manage access credentials (login/password).

Hospital access webpage lets hospital staffs to login their username and password to open, add, update and delete patient such as insurance, history, address, etc.

Administrative webpage lets hospital specialist to access hospital staff information such as role, schedule, record, etc.

Created use case diagrams to show scenarios of hospital access control system.

Developed sequence diagrams and data flow diagrams to show software codes for web page.

Lead development of the test plan and documentation showing exact result of code testing.

Lead unit and integration tests to check compliance to design requirements.

Embedded C Language and Assembly Language: Senior Design Autonomous Robot Project

Tools: CodeWorrior IDE, Matlab, PSpice and Microsoft Visio

Synopsis: This was a microcontroller programming project that lets user drive a robot by RC controller. The design included following:

The HCS12 microcontroller is the main controlling and processing unit of the system. All the control signals for the motion of the robot were provided by the microcontroller.

The DC motor in an autonomous robot is interfaced to the microcontroller through H-bridge circuits (VNH2SP30). The speed of movement is controlled using different PWM signals from the microcontroller and the direction of movement is controlled by providing appropriate signals from the microcontroller to the H-bridge circuits.

The line sensor (QTR-8RC) and RC controller are interfaced to the microcontroller through digital to analog converter. The digital output is converted to the corresponding analog output and sent to the microcontroller for processing.

The distance sensor (IR Sensor) is interfaced to the microcontroller through analog to digital converter. This sensor helps stopping an autonomous robot closely where sensor detects any obstacle.

While majority of code used C Language, the initialization of the code was in Assembly Language. Both of the codes were combined to make microcontroller control the robot.

Used the electronic scope to test a signal from RC receiver and other electrical components and analyze from the graph.

Developed the electrical diagrams for pin connections from electrical components to the HCS12 microcontroller.

Not only did I developed the s/w code to implement functionality but also developed test cases and ran system tests to confirm compliance with design requirements.

VHDL programming: Air Hokey Project on VGA Screen

Tools: Active-HDL 7.2SE

Synopsis: This project was Air Hockey game and it included designing following components:

Two Digilent PMOD Joysticks, a Nexys2 board, and a VGA monitor were created.

The joysticks are designed to communicate with the FPGA using an SPI interface.

The GUI was created using the External Flash RAM provided by FPGA.

The game allowed two users to play air hockey using the two joysticks to control each paddle. Joysticks could move in the X-axis and Y-axis direction.

The score will be displayed using the Seven Segment Display on the FPGA board.

Visual Basic: Super Store Project

Tools: Visual Studio 2005

Synopsis: This project was to create an interface for customers to buy items from the super store. It was designed to have following capabilities:

Lets customers select items, enter quantity and select the discount as applicable.

It calculates the tax based on information entered by the customer and finally lets them obtain the receipt for the purchase.

This program includes an interface for vendor to add new products.

It also lets sales associate enter new product numbers, product names and check prices.

Object Oriented Programming: Car Sale Project

Tools: NetBeans IDE 6.8

Synopsis: This project allows customer to select a car of choice and add preferred options to it. It was designed to do following:

This program shows available cars to the customer and lets them pick the vehicle and add the quantities.

The program gives the customers options to be added to their car.

It provides detailed breakdown of cost upon press of a button.
