Established an In-House engineering & construction operation to support a diverse selection of industries, ranging from chemicals to utilities to coal and natural gas. Worked with a strategic alliance partner develop a specialty skill for geo-spatial mapping in 3D utilizing unmanned aircraft for the data capture. Successful in introducing this technology to the coal industry and have translated into significant cost savings relative to the coal companies’ obligation to accurate severance tax calculations and surface mine reclamations (average cost savings in excess of $50,000 per month in decreased tax payments).

Global Vice President- Manufacturing & Commercial

Full responsibility in developing the technical, IT, and scientific staffing services in these verticals on a global delivery model, to include off-shore in India. Also established a strategic alliance with a Mid Atlantic research institute to offer full life cycle project service delivery in several verticals to include software validation services for NASA on all Shuttle launches. Also established a strategic alliance with PTC ( Pro/E Cad developer) as a regional gold reseller to add value to our design operations and to lower the cost of technology utilized in these same centers. Internal savings the first year was over $750,000.

Engineering & Manufacturing (Consulting assignment))

Responsible for developing technical alliances with key customers and for developing “Go to Market Strategies” with service delivery partners to broaden our Value Add Services. Key duties involve identifying new and leveraging existing accounts within the 70 North America branches and developing new customers through a User Group and/or trade show mechanism. Also to work with corporate communications for product evaluations and launches in conjunction with marketing campaigns. After 8 months of assessments, a report was delivered to the board to evaluate entering the engineering and IT staffing to supplement their full desk delivery. The investment needed to convert was not available, so recommendations were offered to suspend going forward and remain with their core delivery at the full desk concept. Suggested an acquisition to augment their administrative division. The board engaged the suggestion and Today’s Staffing was acquired from CDI Corporation 18 months later.

Responsible for developing technical strategic alliances with key customers in current and new industries east of the Mississippi. Operational responsibilities for branches in 4 states (Alabama, Michigan, South Carolina, West Virginia). Main offerings have been engineering, scientific and IT staffing. Recently awarded a small project office for a major pharmaceutical company. Operation will perform on projects $300,000 or less. Goal was to increase revenue and margin for this business unit to establish an opportunity to sell off this line of business. A 3 year timeline was established to enhance the financials and the goal was achieved in 30 months. Revenue increased by $13 million and margin percentage grew by 5 %. Division was sold in August 2005.

Responsible for the strategic business development activities to grow the automotive and aerospace engineering services divisions that are located in California. Strategic success was established with an offshore service provider, a leading software developer partnering agreement, and a technical staffing partnership with a Top 20 firm to leverage relationships to win market share and add value to current customer contracts. Cad on Call has been a huge success to open doors for the engineering services division.

CDI Corporation August 1978 to February 2002

Technical & Telecom Services Division

Sr. Vice President- Regional Sales Director/Strategic Alliances

Responsible for developing strategic alliances with key customers in current and new industries. Results included a national agreement with Dow Chemical for engineering services and technical staffing in North America. (Contract value $150 million). Also, a premier service partnership was signed with Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC), the developers of Pro/E software. Contract allows CDI to handle service delivery (install, configuration, conversion, and training) of software sold to PTC customer base in North America, Canada, and Europe. First 6 months of the contract has generated $7 million in high margin revenue. Management responsibilities also included operational, sales and recruiting oversight for 21 branches throughout the Mid-West and 14 design centers in the same geography. Developed project support teams for Verizon in the OSP, COE, and NOC departments in WV and VA.
