Entrepreneurial private companies (Cove Tops Ltd, Lakewood Industries, and Flash Cove Manufacturing) with activities in the following: As one of the largest cabinet door manufacturers in Western Canada, generate industry leading products for single/multi residential developments, commercial, institutional products, closet organizers and store fixtures, and laminate counter tops. Cove tops is the leader in this industry and is recognized as the supplier of choice, Cove tops supply retail, installation, and project management services and dealer distribution. The group has 40 Union and non-union employees. With sales in Canada the US, and as far-afield as Hawaii and Alaska.

Establish objectives for the company and formulated and approved policies and programs.

Authorized and organized the establishment of major departments and associated senior staff positions. Allocated material, human and financial resources to implement company policies and programs.

Added two additional revenue stream product lines, with 3D Thermo foil capability (40% increase in sales).

Added equipment with streamlined automated capability, increased production output 50%, decreased manufacturing cost considerably and had a ROI of less than 3 years.

Specializing in cabinet manufacturing, design, supply and installation for multi-family and condominium developments in western North America, employing cutting-edge technology and quality products and services. Offering value-engineering, highly customizable, globally-sourced products. With 100,000 square feet of advanced manufacturing space, Nordstar cabinets are German engineered and Canadian made. Whenever possible, we utilize local product to support our industry at home and reduce manufacturing lead times. Nordstar is capable of high-volume production with highly customized, individual client specifications and schedules. Offering innovative operating and site communication procedures. The group employs 170-200 non-union and union employees, sales of $30 - $50M. Sales offices in Canada BC., Alberta, Calgary, Edmonton, and San Diego.

Communicating and Informing department heads on annual operating plan, and informed direct reports in-depth details of projected results, implemented strategies to achieve required results, adhered to deadlines, analyzed risks, prepared budgets, and allocation of resources, monitored the annual performance of each operational unit, and mandated corrective actions wherever necessary. Advised management on key changes in the planning of pivotal business strategies and decisions. Manufactured from materials, such as insulated steel and insulated aluminum panels, and stainless steel. Cold storage supply chain solutions including the manufacturing of insulated cold storage panel systems for walls and roofs and Insulated Doors. The diverse product line offers blast freezers to pharmaceutical stability rooms. And can be applied to atmospheric controlled environments, designed to fit the needs of any thermally controlled building envelope. The Insulated panel group employs 250 plus union and non-union employees, Sales north of $120 M. North America wide with sales offices in all major territories, 5 manufacturing facilities in North America and Canada

GM/Senior Operations Director

Responsible for the day to day operations for Langley BC. and Brantford Ontario manufacturing plants, Ensured that all financial targets where met with regards to:- Revenue and Cost Control, Ensured that the business was operated to the highest standards in line with the mission statement and values, Ensuring that all departments operated within agreed budgets and achieve agreed targets, Implement systems for tracking production output, health and safety, and quality control (KPI'S) Ensure each department operated in compliance with all legal requirements, ensured H.R procedures were followed in each department. And pro-actively developed subordinates. Conducted appraisals for all direct reports on a bi-annual basis. Complied with statutory and legal requirements for Health and Safety, Fire, Licensing, ensured that yield management is actively practiced to ensure the optimum revenue from the product. Managed manufacturing plants, all project management, outside installation projects, and material purchasing.

Managed the relocation of Zero-Loc’s production facility from Richmond, BC to Langley, BC with minimum production disruption, below budget and on time.

Significantly increased production efficiency in both factories through new scheduling procedures and techniques as well as more efficient set-up and usage of production equipment.

Successfully managed large inventories and negotiated best pricing for most commonly used raw materials such as pre painted steel, and expanded polystyrene.

Successfully negotiated current Union collective agreements with positive results for both Zero-Loc Langley and Brantford factories.

Managed the set-up and commissioning of new factory equipment including a new panel machine and a new expanded polystyrene bead pre-expander.

Managed a mandated reduction in Zero-Loc’s workforce, without sacrificing product quality, lead times, or customer satisfaction.
