ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Tech Products Inc. (TPI) Chief Product Development Officer at TPI between 2001 – 2013

TPI experienced a 20% overall increase in profitability during my first year as plant manager.

TPI maintained consistent annual increases in profitability and an overall increase of over 400% under my leadership.

Successfully guided all manufacturing processes at TPI without influence due to absentee ownership.

Negotiated and led TPI in the acquisition of all new manufacturing equipment. Rotated out the older inventory of obsolete machinery for newer more efficient technology.

Introduced TPI to advanced manufacturing technologies through the acquisition of CNC manufacturing equipment.

Collaborated with manufacturers to develop a roll forming line to create a one inch wide aluminum C-channel part holder which ran at varying lengths, since then Tech has efficiently produced millions of parts at reduced cost.

Established new plant layouts, work flow systems, inventory controls and quality & yield standards for parts produced.

Effectively lowered the manufacturing direct labor cost by 40% while increasing productivity/outputs by 75% and reduced scrap rates from over 20% to an average of 2%

Designed safety and guarding systems for press operations and collaborated with private contractors to produce more advanced systems that optimized production efficiency and operator safety.

ADDITIONAL NOTABLE TECHNICAL & MECHANICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Presided over the re-design and re-engineering of Tech’s patented two shot Everlast injection molded products to accommodate more efficient molding due to reduced cycle times, better mold flow and the limitation of secondary processing.

Collaborated with mold builders to create better mold designs to help reduce production cost (this was accomplished by converting from mold inserts formally produced in steel to aluminum, reducing insert tooling material thicknesses by 25% in some cases. Operator ergonomics was also a consideration in our design due to my experience in the production environment.

Designed several patterns and collaborated on the creation of several production tools for the manufacture of extruded aluminum and plastic products. Also designed and developed several production tools for secondary processing of the aforementioned extruded product lines (extruded products ranged from one inch wide to the difficult to produce width of fifteen inches all while limiting material thickness to under 1/8 inch)

Developed and designed a knock-down aerial marker for use in the petroleum pipeline industry which to date is the only available knock-down A-Frame marker on the market (the purpose of this design was to reduce the space required for the shipping and warehousing of these products which are normally welded frame structures) these markers also provided necessary flexibility to be mounted on various custom pole diameters and shapes as well as it could be mounted directly to oil, natural gas and steam pipelines in the field.

Developed all the production tooling for press operations which allowed TPI the ability to produce some products on a just in time (JIT) basis.

Redesigned an internal venting system for injection molded parts to reduce part burn during the second shot of a two shot molding process (part burn was caused by the buildup of gasses in the mold which was unable to escape prior to the venting systems installation.) Conventional venting and gating was inadequate for this process.

Collaborated with sales managers on the creation of new products and successfully managed their scheduled delivery.

Designed a 60 inch four stage progressive die which produced finished, formed parts. These parts were punched, formed, blanked and numbered sequentially within each cycle of the press. Designed several other metal stamping, forming and blanking dies for the rapid production of stocked parts.

Acquired and installed a heavy metals filtration system which was directly mounted to processing equipment that enabled TPI to meet and exceed DEP environmental standards.

Acquired a total of eleven new punch presses during my tenure as plant manager, including one rated 400 tons, another rated at 60 tons and nine smaller presses rated at 25 tons each. These presses were additionally fixtured to eliminate unnecessary setup time and operator injury risk potential.

All presses were fixtured and setup for automated production effectively eliminating costly setup times and machine down time, this also eliminated operator fatigue from mechanical operation

Acquired and installed TPI’s first rotary screw air compressors and air line refrigerator which was necessary to meet the growing compressed air consumption needs. This new system also served beneficial to overall equipment maintenance and reliability issues due to the elimination of inline moisture buildup and later proved beneficial in meeting and exceeding OSHA’s standards for noise pollution exposure to plant employees

Planned and set in place new production floor layouts that eliminated clutter and allowed TPI to maximize throughput

Experienced working with most industrial metals, including but not limited to stainless steel, carbon steel, cold, hot rolled and spring steel, brass, copper and various grades and tempers of aluminum (Sheet, Plate and Coil) Bending, Forming, Drawing, Turning, Milling, Drilling, Cutting, Casting and Punching

Experienced working with most industrial plastics, including but not limited to cast and extruded Acrylic, ABS, Polystyrene, Polyethylene(PETG) Polypropylene, Polyvinyl(PVC) Polycarbonate(Lexan) Nylon, Delrin and Ren Shape
