Controls Engineer Martz Technologies Berwick, PA
The project was for Kellogg in Muncy, PA.
They were moving some conveyors around, adding some new ones and re-tasking others
Some of the conveyors were controlled by a PLC 5 processor that was replaced by a Controllogix processor.
I needed to copy parts of the ladder code from the PLC 5 to both an existing SLC5/04 and the new ControlLogix processor, re-address the Inputs and Outputs for the motor starters and sensors for the different processor they were installed in; As well as write new ladder code in both the SCL5/04 processor and the Controllogix processor for the new conveyors.
The entire conveyor had sensors mounted to control product flow that had to be incorporated in the ladder code. In the SLC 5/04 system the conveyors that were reassigned I had to use a customer supplied existing Remote 1771 rack in the Processor configuration and ladder code.
In addition to the Controllogix and SLC 5/04 processors, I had to reprogram the existing Panelview displays to allow the operator to control the conveyors. The customer wanted the new screens in the Panelview to have the same look and operation as the original.
As part of the project we had to confirm the function and wiring of the Inputs and Outputs for all the processors I worked on.

Other related experiences and achievements.
About 25 years ago I upgraded a hand operated PVC compounder to what may be the first fully automated PVC Compounding system at that time. That system is still in full operation.
I have upgraded additional compounders to full automation and several others were upgraded to semiautomatic.
I have designed the control system and build the control panels for several semiautomatic welding machines.
I have designed and built custom radio controlled crane control panels for a large local fabrication shop.
Pryor to working as a freelance contractor I had over 10 years working either as a maintenance mechanic or an industrial electrician in both positions working as team leader or job foreman.
As a maintenance mechanic my duties included fabrication, welding and plumbing as necessary to keep the plant running.
