My responsibilities included supervision and care for the children. I ensured the children’s safety and administered medication to the children when authorized by the parent. I supervised the work of my assistant. I planned and implemented educational and developmental activities such as developing lesson plans with children daily. Director for Children Center for Discovery, Waldorf, Maryland from January 1999 to July 1999. I received a salary of $12.00 an hour. I supervised and managed a staff of 15 teachers and assistants. I ensured that time sheets were completed on all staff. I ensured that all classrooms maintained with the required staff to child ratio. I ensured that all before and after school children got on and off the bus to and from school. I took parents on tours of the center and handled any parent concerns. I assisted the teachers when they needed my help. I conducted staff meetings. I maintained all program files. I ensured the overall Center ran as required by state law, to provide for the education, safety and wellbeing of the children, parents and staff.

Large Home Child Care Provider Owner/Operator January 1993 to May 1985. My approximate income was $40,000.00 a year. Midway Park, North Carolina. I provided care for children in my home. I was licensed as a small child care center and was required to maintain the state requirements of a small center. I prepared and served breakfast, lunch and snack to the children. I administered teacher directed activities and utilized the High Reach Learning Program. I provided the children with educational and developmental activities such as free choice, circle time, music, finger play, puppets and stories.

I have held the positions of past President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Southern Maryland Charles County Family Daycare Association.

On April 29, 2005 I was chosen twice by the Southern Maryland Charles County Resource Center, to be the Home Childcare Provider featured in two Southern Maryland Newspaper articles entitled “Childcare Center Gives a Little Extra” and “Thinking Outside the Sandbox.
