Teen Services Librarian: Alameda Free Library, Alameda, CA

2013-present:

•Directed Teen Center mural project that empowered teen artists to develop and create their own permanent mural in the library;

•Developed and implemented teen programs such as the Teen Book Group, Teen Anime Club, Altered Books & T-Shirts, writing workshops, open mics, and YA author visits including Maggie Stiefvater (Shiver) and Laini Taylor (Daughter of Smoke and Bone);

•Coordinated the Alameda Free Library Homework Coaching Program: trained and supervised high school students who tutored children in K- 5th grade;

•Founded the Alameda Free Library Teen Advisory Board and provided leadership as the TAB developed and implemented its own programming, including scavenger hunts, Back To The Future Night, a Halloween party and a DIY Workshop;

•Forged new partnerships with local high schools, newspapers and local businesses to promote library programs and strengthen the library’s presence in the community;

•Conducted database demos to instruct high school students on how to use the library’s

electronic resources for their research assignments;

•Created and coordinated new programming brand “Made In Alameda”, showcasing Alameda creators and makers;

•Served on special library committee to select a new Integrated Library System;
