● Decline curve, Type curve analysis, Material balance, Analytical modeling to investigate Radius of Investigation.
● Analyze effect and cause of down spacing through Reservoir modeling.
Reservoir Engineer III, Kinder Morgan CO2 Co., Midland, Texas May 2012 - April 2015
Responsibilities and Outcomes as from February 2014:
Reservoir Planning, Forecasting & CO2 Management
● Facilitated, balanced, managed CO2 Switch List based on field supply and demand for CO2
● Managed CO2 utilization based on GOR surveillance
● Formulated and designed Pattern Activation for 5 year Long Range Plan (LRP)
● Used proprietary KMWAG software to history-match and forecast wells
Field Experience
● Cement squeeze job Ran injection profile (Vertical and Horizontal well)
● Use of cement bailer Surface stimulation job using coil tubing
● Perforation operations Used plug in the flow master to test for tubing leak
● Ran a Sub pump Witnessed collar strip depth logging for perforation
AFE for Development of Horizontal Injectors in Southwest Portion of SACROC
Carried out research and assisted writing By-passed Pay Horizontal Injector AFE to drill a 6500 ft., multi-stage acid fractured horizontal injection well through a section of the low permeable, OOIP-rich formation.
● Utilizing Wellbore Diagram well files, Petra Logs, well interconnectivity and production data of wells within the patterns, determined the injectors and total of 12 producers to be included in AFE
● Established the well work, generated Cost Estimation to drill and deepen producers and injectors along horizontal well path
● With Baker-Centrilift, designed ESP and the associated VSDs for the 12 wells.
● Developed well completion designs and cost estimates including frac sleeves, swellable packers, and acid fracturing treatment designs for the wells.
Surveillance
Monitored and documented the production data, CO2 injection rates and Intake pressure data to identify CO2 breakthrough on 12 patterned producers surrounding a horizontal injector.
Prospect Evaluation
Collaborated with CO2 Manager to develop a process for which he then wrote a proprietary software application to perform CO2 EOR planning. Using that application, areas of bypassed pay potential were forecast, evaluated and documented for future development.
Well Work
On an AFE to increase injection support and disposal capacity on 20 stacked out water injectors, wrote procedures and ran economic analysis to clean them out using coil tubing which increased the incremental return to 30,000 BWIPD.
Mentorship
When a newly hired Production Engineer was assigned, built up his know-how of best practices enabling him to better function as a contributing team member.
● Reviewed and critiqued his well work for familiarization with integration of SACROC facilities and operations.
● Taught ESP and VSD design procedures, assisting him to determine and design what ESP/VSD were best suited for the given well
Software Expertise: ARIES, COMET, ECLIPSE, Fakete RTA, PETRA, SCADA, DSS, SCALEUP, DrillingInfo, Wellview, KMWAG, KMPLAN (Kinder Morgan’s proprietary software for CO2 Pattern Forecast)
Production Engineer II, Kinder Morgan CO2 Co.
Responsibilities and Outcomes from start in May 2012 to promotion in February 2014
Production Optimization, Surveillance
● Analyzed injection and production well data to optimize well performance
● Designed and recommended ESP equipment changes for a producing well to optimize CO2 production
● Made peer-to peer presentations re developments on ESP sizing and lessons learned
● Performed CO2 pattern allocations, forecast injection, oil production data for reserves allocation
● Analyzed reservoir, modeled and designed CO2 WAG schedule to optimize CO2 utilization
● Analyzed reservoir for redevelopment and re-entry into existing TA’d wells as part of future development projects.
AFE to Harvest CO2 in SACROC
Wrote $1.0M AFE to harvest additional CO2 in support of increased demand in active CO2 injection projects which included Return-to-Production of 5 TA’ed wells. The AFE required designing ESP and VSD and clean out of stacked out injectors to offset the water production from the corresponding producers.
Senior Petroleum Engineer over Business, Capital Planning and Forecasting (BCPF) CONSOL Energy Inc., Canonsburg, PA September 2007 - February 2012
Reserves Estimation
Reservoir Characterization and Modeling
● Constructed a dynamic reservoir model in COMET of Chattanooga/Marcellus shale formations using geophysical, geological and engineering data to improve reserves estimation and decision making for development of the field
● Performed history matching comparing model to production history
● Used type curves generated by history matching to support business planning and budgeting group for forecasting and economic evaluation
Type Curves in CBM and Shale
Created time zero plots of actual production data and updated it in ARIES database to perform history match and generate new type curves
Reserves Reporting Using ARIES Database
