NarcoFreedom Substance Abuse Counselor March 2014 – May 2015
Originally hired in the Bronx facility as a per diem group facilitator in March 2014, and promoted in May 2014 to current position.
As a Substance Abuse Counselor, I provided direct and administrative services in NarcoFreedom's Queens-based outpatient facility. All clients are chemically dependent, and many struggle with concomitant problems including homelessness, mental illness, involvement with the criminal justice system, and chronic medical diseases such as HIV and Hepatitis C. Clients are either mandated by law enforcement, HRA, and ACS, or are self-referred.
Direct service includes: psychosocial intake; assessment; comprehensive case management; (information, referral, advocacy, development and follow up of a service plan;) crisis intervention, and group and individual counseling.
Administrative responsibilities include: writing, entering and filing case notes; submission of monthly reports, contact with governmental agencies regarding client progress, and regular case conference.
Personal Recovery Coach January 2013 – Present
Work with private clients using a “harm reduction to abstinence” approach for individuals addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. Create service plan and action items to reduce risk of relapse. Escort clients to self-help meetings and clinical interventions. Help clients enter detox and/or rehab. Facilitate enrollment into ancillary services.

Originally hired as an intern in September 2012, and promoted to full-time Residential Counselor in January
Provided treatment and case management services to clients in a modified therapeutic community setting. Facilitated clinical groups and held regularly scheduled individual counseling sessions with residents.
