Network performance comparison with and without QoS (Quality of Service) algorithms using Opnet Modeler.
Research dissertation on: Comparison between homogeneous and heterogeneous VANET (vehicular ad hoc network) networks using LTE and Wi-Fi.
2007 - 2011 B.tech (Electronics & Communication Engineering) Punjab Technical University
Bachelors Score: First Division
Relevant Modules
Total Quality Management, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Communications, Analog Communications, Microcontrollers & Embedded Systems, Signal & Processing, Linear Control Systems, Antenna & Wave Propagation, Microwave & Radar Engineering, Computer Networks, Optical Fiber Communications, Environmental Science.
Projects undertaken in undergraduate studies:
Metro Train: Based on the concept of recurrent ideology of MECHANTRONICS. Tools used in the project are LM7805 5V Regulator, Transformer 12-0-12, Microcontroller AT89C51, IR (Infrared) detector pairs 5V DC, DC Motor.
RELEVANT TELECOMMUNICATION WORK EXPERIENCE
June 2009 - August 2009 Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Patiala, Punjab, India (Public Sector Telecommunication Company).
Roles:
Handling fault isolation, resolution, escalation as per the company's pre-defined processes.
Providing on-line support to field engineers.
Routine health and backup check of routers.
Jan 2011- June 2011 Quadrant Televentures Limited, Mohali, Punjab, India.
Roles:
Maintaining data for overall availability of media links and coordinating with leased media provider in case of media issue.
Coordinating with the site engineers to make sure the availability of BTS (Base Transceiver Station) in various locations.
Docket booking with the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) in the case of media failure.
GRADUATE SKILLS
Good understanding of OSI (Open System Interconnection) network Model, GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications), 3G, 4G/LTE and Wi-Fi architecture.
Configuration of routing protocols such as RIP (Routing Information Protocol), OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol), AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector), DSR (Dynamic Source Routing), MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) Architecture, SMPP (Short Message Peer – to – Peer), SIP (Session Initiation Protocol), etc.
Master’s research: VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network).
Studied various research papers on VANETs and wireless technologies and simulated wireless communication in vehicular environment using Wi-Fi and LTE/4G and found out that delay - sensitive data should be transmitted via LTE/4G whereas delay - tolerant data should be offloaded to the Wi-Fi network i.e. integration of both LTE/4G and Wi-Fi technologies can improve the transmission throughput, especially in high traffic load conditions such as urban intersections.
Software Languages: C, C++.
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power-point.
VOLUNTEERING WORK EXPERIENCE
Taught English, Mathematics and Science in a charitable school for poor and orphan children. (April 2012- March 2013).
Undertook a volunteering job at senior citizen's rehabilitation home for 2 years (Dec 2011 - Dec 2013).
STRENGTHS
Strong communication skills.
Self motivated and self initiated.
Patient and good listener. Working in the senior citizen's rehabilitation home boosted up my patience and made me a good listener as my job was to cater for the needs septuagenarians, octogenarians and nonagenarians.
As a student, participated in various extra-curricular activities like debate competitions, workshops, social events etc., have been a part of my university's debate club.
During undergraduate studies, have worked as an intern in Telecommunications companies so adapted to work in teams and have been applauded as an efficient team leader during my undergraduate major project (Metro Train).
