Professional Experience:
Sept 2012- present: Nurse Clinician IM, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Adult Inpatient Psychiatry and Psychiatric Emergency Department. According to policies and procedures of the hospital, as an American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) board certified psychiatric mental health registered nurse, care for assigned patients by performing and documenting physical and mental assessments, administering medications and vaccinations as ordered, notifying and following up with prescribers about patients’ concerns in a timely manner, encouraging, educating, and assisting patients in activities of daily living to include: food intake, hygiene, and ambulation, assisting security and staff to maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu for all patients on each respective unit, teaching activities in a group setting for patients, and maintaining required professional educational requirements, certifications, BLS, and immunizations.
As scheduled, I am assigned charge nurse during day, evening or night shifts. Among other duties, the charge nurse completes daily assignment roster for registered nurses and clinical technicians, ensures that assignment is equitable, manages discharge and admission status of the unit, problem solves as necessary when indicated, and communicates needs of the unit to nurse manager and assistant nurse manager.
Completed (40 hour) orientation to Psychiatric Emergency Department at Johns Hopkins Hospital and assigned to Psychiatric Emergency Department according to the needs of the unit. As RN, I assist in managing volatile and unpredictable milieu, assist medical and psychiatric treatment team in care coordination, direct security as needed to ensure safety of patients and staff, draw labs as needed.

January-May 2015: Internship- additional 126 hours of supervised clinical time at Lower Shore Clinic, Salisbury, MD with Dr. Robert Reilly, MD. This facility accommodates the primary care and psychiatric needs of vulnerable adult patients on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I completed a paper notating recommendations and presented these recommendations at Graduate Scholarship Day at Salisbury University to fulfill master’s degree program requirements.
