CEE headquartered in Ahmadabad, Gujarat was established in 1984 to develop and conduct nation-wide environmental education programs and activities. CEE is supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Government of India and the Nehru Foundation. It has seven local centers to meet its objectives. I chose to become a volunteer to gain an experience at the grass-root level on economic development. During the aftermath of the 2004 Tsunami, CEE selected me to be a team member to assess damages in the fishing villages in Tamil Nadu.
Attended village council meetings, participated in site visits and discussions, met with local and state government officials as well as active NGOs in the area, and interviewed those affected in the tsunami-affected districts of Tamil Nadu. Concentrated on villages where fishing and microfinance initiatives were prevalent.
