Unit Secretary: Answer phones, call and place consults and repairs in last
word. Enter labs in last word, print requisitions and provide proper tube
for lab. Transcribe and enter orders in last word. Admit and discharge
patients in last word, and ADTR, as well as keep daily log of new patients,
and patients that have been transferred out of the unit. Receive OR report
for new patients and notify necessary services of patient's arrival and
needs. Notify staff of emergency code and/or when patient will be returning
back to surgery, order blood products, contact patients family if required,
prepare chart for patients return to surgery. Contact necessary staff, and
family in the event of an expiration, prepare proper paperwork, discharge
patient in ADTR, DC all last word orders, empty chart, arrange for
transportation of deceased/and other patients going to scheduled test.
Prepare lab packs, thin and stuff charts. Order and stock supplies.
