Researched and identified food safety and good handling best
practices that lay the framework for the development of a non-
profit aggregation center for farm-to-school food distribution-an
initiative that will provide healthier food options for children and
increased income opportunity for local growers.
Provided standard operating procedures and record-keeping
logs for aggregation center operations. Identified and created
roles and responsibilities of the proposed Aggregation Manager.
To generate buy-in, captured aggregation processes and
communicated those processes via PowerPoint presentation to
the Tygart Valley Growers Association.
Through grant-writing, assisted in raising $60,000 for the
construction and supply of the aggregation center and for other
renovations at The Market Place (a Barbour County farmer’s
market and food hub).
Identified the requirements of a cash register system that
streamlines accounting processes and provides more robust
sales information.
To build The Market Place ‘brand’, used social media to cover
‘just in’ items, new vendor introductions (‘Meet Your Local
