SUMMARY

Proficient in design and drafting tools like PTC Creo (Pro/E), SolidWorks, CATIA and AutoCAD.

Hands-on experience in testing and analysis on Universal Testing Machine (UTM)

Design failure mode and effect analysis (DFMEA); Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R); GD&T

Skilled in analyzing data, diverse managerial skills in planning and organizing

Highly motivated, quick learner, excellent communication, teamwork and problem solving skills.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Research Assistant – University of North Carolina at Charlotte

Improved vehicle suspension control arm model using experimental deflection measurements: Feb 2014 - March 2015

Designed the test rig in SolidWorks and then manufactured it for testing of Honda Acura MDX control arm in longitudinal

and lateral loading.

Measured internal deflections of control arm on Universal Testing Machine (UTM) for different loads applied till 3500 lbs.

Designed FEA model and performed displacement and stress analysis for same loads in SolidWorks.

Compared both values and careful improvements were made in FEA model to improve the model.

Optimized the FEA model to get improved suspension control arm with error in deflection less than 10%.

Tools development to speed up the assembly process of Mazda MX-5 transmission: May 2013 - Dec 2013

Dis-assembled and rebuilt 5 speed Mazda MX-5 manual transmission.

Studied the gear-box and developed specialized tools (21” socket, bearing pullers) to streamline the assembly

process, and reduce time and efforts during the process.

Design Optimization of external fuel tank of space shuttle: Jan 2013 - May 2013

Optimized the design by considering the Tank cost and Tank weight as the objective function.

Used ‘Latin Hypercube’ gradient method for sampling of design variables.

Performed sensitivity analysis to find out sensitivity of the design variables to the design.

PROJECTS

Design of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) under the BAJA SAE INDIA Competition:

May 2010 – February 2011

Event to design, manufacture of all-terrain vehicle from scratch test run, marketing and business plan for 400 vehicles

per year of all-terrain vehicle on an off road track built by SAE.

Secured Overall 2nd runner-up and 2nd in maneuverability event.

Responsible for roll cage design in CATIA and manufacturing; headed the Procurement Department.

Auto Indexing Table with Proximity Sensor: May 2010 – May 2011

Designed and manufactured working prototype to rotate work piece at variable speeds to assist the welding process.

Designed a reduction gear-box to operate the indexing table at slow speeds.

Multiple indexer positions were made available with help of Indexing buttons which enables staggered welded joints.

Used proximity sensor for automatic stopping of the ‘Auto Indexing Table’ after welding process is over.
