Profile of Experience and Accomplishments
2007 to 2013 – Director of Information Technology, Carolina Meadows, Inc., Chapel Hill, NC. This
company is a Continuing Care Retirement Community, where I was responsible for all information
services functions – computer operations, voice and data networks, application support,
telecommunications, and desktop support. Responsible for implementing and supporting integrated
modular applications, covering all financial functions, electronic medical records, care plans,
HIPAA/HITECH compliance and point of sale processing.
• Directed the implementation of a corporate wide multi-system project involving over 2000
software programs
• Designed and managed the installation of a multi-site dining room reservation system
• Responsible for writing the RFP and selecting the vendor for a new corporate telephone
system
• Managed the project for a complete network upgrade and expansion involving fiber and VOIP
• Lead the project for a complete corporate disaster recovery system

2004 to 2007 – Manager of Information Technology, Weaver Street Market, Carrboro, NC., where I
was responsible for all information services at multiple stores and restaurant. Planned, implemented
and managed computer operations, networks, security, strategic plans, budgets and vendor relations.

1997 to 2003 – Director, Networking and Computing Services, Johnson & Johnson Corporation,
Raritan, NJ. Johnson & Johnson is the largest healthcare company in the world, and NCS is the
Corporate Data Center responsible for the world-wide computer and voice/data network infrastructure
that supports more than 170 companies in the Pharmaceutical, Consumer and Health Care Products
and Professional Medical Sectors of the corporation. During this period I had responsibility for North
American and Latin American WANS, Internet, Intranet, Web hosting, Project Management, E-Mail,
Midrange and Mainframe computers, database administration, and videoconferencing. I was the first
director to receive the prestigious Johnson & Johnson “Crown of Excellence Award.”
• Implemented standard processes for Project Management, Quality Assurance and time
reporting for the health care sectors
• Managed a security implementation project for over 20,000 desktops

• Conducted Internet security projects for senior management
1990 – 1997 Director, Technical Services, R.W. Johnson Pharmaceutical Research Institute of
Johnson & Johnson. I headed the technical operations areas of the Information Services Division
and controlled the world-wide computer operations, multi-site data centers, telecommunications,
database administration, quality assurance and IT security functions. I was hired into this position to
clean up a failing and unresponsive organization. Within two years the organization achieved a “Best
in Class” rating from a Nolan Norton, Peat Marwick study.

Other career experience:
Director of Development, Travcom, Inc., responsible for the design and development of an on-line
hospital information system. This system included the automation of all aspects of hospital
psychiatric health care including computerized nursing notes, pharmacy functions, patient monitoring
and scheduling, menu planning and all financial functions.
At Arthur Anderson & Co., provided consulting support for financial, computer, and general business
applications.
At the National Security Agency (NSA), responsible for research and testing of hardware and
software; designed and programmed accounting, inventory and psychological computer testing
