Qualcomm Power Management IC (PMIC), Analog to Digital Conversion (ADC),
charger, battery fuel-gaging, power optimization, and RF front-ends (MIPI RFFE devices:
antenna switch, power-amplifier, power module.)
Extensive and constantly debug issues on customers’ smart devices/phones ranging
from software to hardware.
Implement customization drivers per customer’s spec & requirement.
Documentations/Training: API user operational manual, technical memos,
application notes, and training documents for both internal engineers and customers.

Firmware Staff Engineer
Novatel Wireless, San Diego, CA 92121 (07/07/2003 – 11/11/2005)
Implemented and tested functions to read and convert temperature from raw ADC
value to temperature in degree C.
Designed, implemented, and tested thermal runaway algorithm.
Implemented and tested USB driver in the boot loader.
Implemented and tested LED flashing schemes as requested by carriers.
Implemented and tested IS-683B (IOTA) and IS-683C per carrier’s requirement
(OTASP/OTAPA).
Added additional firmware codes in current Qualcomm OTASP code to support 3G
MIP settings and 16K PRL. For example, whenever OTASP is performed, need to
automatically update Access Over Class, lock code, SIP/MIP user name, user
preferred mode (automatic, hybrid only, HDR only), and clear MRU table. Also
notify the host (UI) the status of each step of the OTASP procedures according to the
customer’s requirements.
Implemented and tested Novatel proprietary AT and DIAG commands.
Performed board bring-up with the new HW and SW, included making voice and data
calls (call origination and termination).
Worked also included support CDG-2 and carrier’s conformance test.
Separated boot loader from application so it can function as a standalone boot-loader.
Modified firmware to support decompression for image download.
Worked on DMSS software (MSM6050) that uses in PMCIA modem card: enhanced
and improved speed of the downloader and firmware download tools. Maintained
firmware and bug fixes. Duties included system integration and production software
release.
Worked on power management and low power mode – achieved deep sleep to bring
the module down to 500 uA; this was critical criteria for embedded module.
Reviewed and implemented carrier’s (Verizon / Sprint) requirements for 1xEV -DO
(MSM6500): OTASP/OTAPA, Data requirements, Data Calls Fallback, Test Plans
(OTA Data Functionality and Throughput Test, Data Thru-Put Lab Test.
Performed MIP self-certification and run-time fixed any issues at Sprint Lab.
Supported and performed Verizon’s Field Test (Stage 3) with Verizon’s engineer.
System Integration/Test Engineer - Uniden Research and Development Center, Inc.
San Diego, Ca 92121
Performed design verification testing of GSM, TDMA Mobile Stations Call
Processing, User Interface software to ensure compliance with Air and User
Interface specifications. Working directly with HW/SW engineers for failure analysis
and corrective actions, and developing detailed test plans. Compile and complete
test data on all software revisions.
Coded, integrated, tested, and maintained embedded, real-time, multitasking
software.
Implemented an automated test scripts and programs (C, LabView, TMAC, Perl) to
validate product specifications.
Used M-file (MATHLAB) to evaluate and optimize the performance of the embedded
driver written in C.
Hardware Design Engineer: Elgar Electronic Corp.
San Diego, CA 92121.
Designed, implemented, and debugged embedded software/firmware for the various
AC/DC programmable power supply using C and Assembler.
Developed software for the micro-controller MC68000 processor.
Developed firmware for Front Panel control of Elgar AT8000 DC power
Supply.
Designed, debugged, and updated automate test stations and software (“C”) to
validate and test AC/DC programmable power supply.
Designed and developed AC/DC programmable power supplies (Military: 800 Watts
programmable DC power supplies, Commercial: 200 Watts programmable power
supplies).
Scripting languages: Perl, Python Fundamentals & MATHLAB Fundamentals
