MASTER THESIS:
Spot weld ability of paint coated steels using laser ablation
• Sheet metal joining is mainly done with resistance spot welding process which has to undergo pre-processes to
remove the non conductible paint on it. Introducing the laser technology to ablate the paint coating which create
strong welding conditions and improve the quality of the weld.
• IPG fiber diode lasers with continuous wave mode has been used to ablate the non conductible paint and it is
welded with the resistance spot welder.
• Transient thermal analysis in ANSYS is done to determine optimum laser parameters and to study the heat
affected zone.FEA analysis using ABACUS has been done to analyze the spot welding parameters.
• Design of experiments are developed and done practically to determine its mode of failure and quality of spot
weld through MTS tensile tests, hardness tests and scanning electron microscope(SEM).
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Research Assistant, Mechanical Department, Northern Illinois University Jan 2015 - May 2015
• Design, analyzing training modules for Jobs Innovation Accelerator Challenge (JIAC) program and manufacture
of parts through multiple processes - CAD/CAM, directed energy deposition, selective laser sintering, 3 D
printing and Fused deposition modeling.
• Building a FDM machine, installing the extruders and programming it with G codes and M codes.
Teaching Assistant, Mechanical Department, Northern Illinois University Aug 2013 - May
2015
Courses: Mechanical Reliability, Material processing and testing
• Reorganized machine shop and equipment warehouse areas which resulted in improvement of free space.

Research Assistant, College of Engineering and Technology, Northern Illinois University March 2014 - Sep
2014
• Developed and proposed an empirical method for the company ‘ Raynor Garage Doors' to optimize spot welding
parameters.
• Mechanical reliability testing for the weld components and improving the quality.
Intern, Equic dies and molds pvt.ltd, Hyderabad June 2012 - Dec
2012
• Proposed Wire Cut Electric discharge machining to be introduced in the manufacturing cycle which results in cost
reduction, process time and product quality.
• Worked in the design team using solid works to design a high pressure casting die for the Delphi body pump.
• Generated improvement drawings upon completion of plan and specifications from mechanical drawings.
Intern, Narla Tata Rao Thermal power station May 2011- July 2011
• Trained in operations maintenance of boilers and turbines in thermal power plant and final report has been
submitted to improve boiler efficiency.
TECHNICAL PROJECTS:
Perfect straight line motion for a robot
• The Robot has six legs ;each leg has Hoeken and pantograph mechanism. Equations have been solved to get each
link length in six bar mechanism.
• A sample model is designed, analyzed by simulation, prototype has been manufactured, analyzed straight-line
mechanism of the robot.
• Visual studio, MATLAB, ANSYS and CREO used in this project.
Fixture Characterization through vibration testing
• Impact testing is done to obtain the natural frequencies.
• Modal analysis of the fixture through FEM(Finite element method, ANSYS workbench 14.5).
• Transmissibility ratio of the fixture is found by testing on the shaker.
Solar Heating and Cooling for Residential Homes
• The harnessed solar energy is converted into electricity for electricity for residential homes which is cost
effective.
• Components designed for the required output: Solar collector, Heat exchanger (boiler).turbine.
• Developed MathCAD programs to determine the length of collector, volume flow rate, heat exchanger
specifications and turbine sizes or desired amount of energy output.
Detection of cracks in turbine blade using neural networks ( Bachelors degree project)
• analysis has been performed and frequencies at different depths has been find out to determine the cracks in the
blade.
• Engineering tools hyper mesh is used for meshing and was designed and modeled in Ansys.
ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS:
• Colloquium president of Mechanical engineering, Northern Illinois University. Coordinates the research students
and professors from other university to give the lectures in our college.(Aug 2014 - present).
• Held the position of secretary to the SAE collegiate club and was also the founder member at Koneru Lakshmaiah
University.
