EXPERIENCE
12/2003 – 03/2015 Senior Business Analyst/Programmer, NMS Imaging – Silver Springs
Progressed from Business Analyst to Senior Business Analyst
Consulted with clients to design and implement business software to meet their
individual needs
Provided client support and product installation, including bug fixes and software
updates/modifications
Worked with various Records Management and Accounting departments.
Developed tools to migrate data between applications including
ApplicationXtender, SmartSearch, eFlow, CabinetSoft, and Microsoft SQL Server.
Worked regularly with NMS Imaging’s flagship product, eFlow, which is a business
flow software engine. It allows programmers to design processes that are powered
by eFlow, but are customized to handle a client’s specific needs.
Developed approximately 130 eFlow processes for various clients and maintained
them over many versions and platform upgrades.
Worked with the accounting department of a large saving and loan to develop an
invoicing system. This system took invoices output from ReadSoft in XML format
and imported them into database tables. From there, they were imported into
eFlow along with their associated scanned images, processed, and distributed to
user queues, where they would be indexed, approved, and sent on to
ApplicationXtender for archiving. This system was later adapted for another
savings and loan.
Rewrote and extended software used to process scanned checks for the above
mentioned savings and loan. This software handled thousands of scanned checks
daily from 14 branches.
Integrated IDAutomation software for PDF417 barcodes with various client
applications.
Took lead role in the migration from ApplicationXtender to SafeSearch for the
National Guard. This involved transferring a massive amount of data. Individual
documents were sometimes over a gigabyte.
Took a similar role in the migration from ApplicationXtender to SafeSearch for
various other clients.
Took lead role in the migration from ApplicationXtender to CabinetSafe for a
police department.
Worked with Microsoft operating systems from DOS and early versions of
Windows up through Windows 8.1.
Worked with Microsoft SQL Server 2000, 2003, 2005, 2008 R2, 2012
07/2001 – 12/2003 Data Entry, Staffing Solutions – Richmond, VA
Worked mostly for SunCom doing data entry.
Wrote Excel macros to automate routine tasks.
12/1998 – 07/2001 CAD Operator, Cavalier Telephone – Richmond, VA
Mapped fiber-optic lines via AutoCAD
Wrote programs in AutoLisp – a dialect of Lisp that runs in AutoCAD.
While at Cavalier and with a civil engineering firm before that, wrote dozens of
AutoLisp programs, including one particularly large program that was used by the
civil engineering firm in the drafting and design of cul-de-sacs.
At Cavalier, the CAD drawings for a single fiber-optic backbone could consist of up
to 150 drawings. Occasionally, a large section of the backbone would need to be
restationed. Wrote a combination of AutoLisp programs and AutoCAD scripts that
automated the updating of the stationing on multiple drawings. This system was
able to accomplish in 5 minutes what it would have taken half a day or more to do
manually.
EDUCATION
1976-1980 Bachelor of Science: Mathematics, Virginia Polytechnic and State University
2001-2003 Associate of Science: Programming and Web Design, ECPI Technical College
Went back to school to earn associates in programming and web design and to fill
some gaps in my knowledge of computers and programming. ECPI provided an
invaluable opportunity to work with previously unfamiliar systems and applications
such as Oracle, Sun Microsystems, COLDFusion, Java, and many others.
