Testing & Development Engineer
. Performed validation the tests and development of two truck bed
Tonneaus for the Dodge Ram as OEM equipment. Participated in a
power sunroof program as test plan statistician. Benchmarked a
Toyota Tonneau program. Supervised a crew of six people
operating in two facilities to execute various tests. Additional
benchmarking performed on after-market Tonneaus.
Chrysler LLC, Auburn Hills, MI July 1988
to November 2008 Supervisor, (also Engineer & Senior Engineer)
. As a Supervisor, received the Vice-President's Engineering Award
for curing an impact compliance problem with NHTSA on the
Chrysler Minivan. In three weeks my team turned failure to
comply into being 20% better than the MVSS federal impact
standard.
. Achieved a 20% reduction in Dodge truck seat warranty in each of
two consecutive years. This was done by accelerating delivery
of warranty information to the supplier; a reduction of two
months time. Also achieved reductions of 15% in complexity and
65% in warranty for a savings of over $1,000,000 on Jeep Compass
and Patriot seats.
. As a Supervisor, achieved a 0.8 P/100 improvement on one
question alone for customer satisfaction on truck seat finish
issues for the Dodge Ram. Achieved a 0.5 P/100 improvement on
one question for customer satisfaction for the
Compass/Patriot/Caliber line for seat belt comfort.
. Directed suppliers of seats for Chrysler for seven years for the
Jeep Patriot and Compass, Dodge Ram and Jeep Wrangler. I was
responsible for releases, changes, 20 years of warranty
reduction and interfacing with assembly plants and the
suppliers; Lear and Johnson Controls.
Prepared, launched and sustained Steering Column and Seat programs
using PPAP, DFMEA,
PFMEA, DFMA, FEA, IQS/Warranty, GD&T, DOE, DFSS and DVP&R.
. Designed, prototyped and introduced the use of magnesium and
aluminum extrusions as steering column structures. These were
developed for an aluminum car program and implemented on the
production Jeep Wrangler.
. Launched the castings, stampings and mechanisms in the original
Chrysler airbag steering columns. As a Supervisor, developed a
production tilt column for the winning Vipers of the Rolex24
endurance race at Daytona.

. Implemented the first Statistically Controlled Process in the
plant; including automation. Increased the process "FTC" from
80% to 98% resulting in a $600,000/year savings of Platinum.
Performed customer liaison functions between the Autolite and
Chrysler for three years.
. Reduced labor content in oxygen sensor processes: 60% in inner
electrode application, 93% in the
acid rinse station, 60% in the anti-seize application operation,
40% in the washer
attachment process, 25% in the vent clip attachment process.

for the electric current treatment operation
. Supervised UAW Millwrights, Machine Repairmen, Electricians and
Tool & Die Makers on all
shifts for a 24/7 operation.

. Awarded eleven patents for steering column design while at
Chrysler. All within the Steering Column

reduction.
. As a Supervisor, wrote "ANOVA Calculator" Design of Experiments
software in an Excel format for Chrysler; copyrighted.
. Published four table top games available commercially; "Surface
Battle Group v3.0",
"Dirt Track Saturday Night", "Speedway Racing" and "Moments of
Sheer Terror".
