Mehroze’s Masters dissertation was focused on offering
domestic consumer based demand-response electrical
energy management programs. Electricity utilities offer
demand-response programs which are predominantly
focused at commercial and industrial consumers. These
programs are also driven by the utilities where they have
more control on their consumer’s electricity consumption in
a given time. Utilities themselves manage their consumers
consumption during the time of high demand. A system was
proposed to enable Utilities to offer demand response
programs to their domestic consumers.

Domestic consumers were alerted during the high demand
periods and were given with the choice to keep using their
appliances during that period or turn them off. Given the
information and the choice the domestic electrical energy
consumers were found responsive.
The research was able to drive the conclusion that domestic
electrical energy conumsers are responsive when they are provided
with their electrical energy consumption information. During the
testing phase it was found that with the use of this system they
were able to reduce around 13 percent of their electrical energy
consumption.

SALIENT PROJECTS
WITS University Electrical Energy Monitoring and Management System
University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg spent tens of millions of Rands on
its electricity bills during the year 2008 – 2009 . This project is aiming to reduce
the electrical energy consumption at the University campuses
The project includes designing, developing, and deploying the management
software for both monitoring the electrical energy consumption in real-time and
development of a module which will make it possible for the University
management to reduce their electrical energy consumption
Stock and Inventory Management System
Eden Builders (Pvt.) LTD, Lahore, Pakistan
It was a fully electronic (Software) based application responsible to maintain the
stock and inventory of each and every asset of the company (real estate
business)
The challenge was to generate automatic PO (Purchase Orders) on some specific
predefined dynamic factors from all received quotations for a specific item
The limitation was to receive the goods (onsite) with the reference of PO (but
mostly supplier doesn’t put a PO reference on receipt). This was handled by a
module which was capable to select the PO (from whole range of POs)
intelligently for any given item and supplier.
Client Resource Management System (CRM)
Eden Builders (Pvt.) LTD, Lahore, Pakistan
This was a web based application responsible of booking (of houses), keep record
of instalments (of payments), and both client and management reporting
Stock, Inventory and Accounts Management System
Waqas Traders, Gujranwala, Pakistan.
It was a basic stock and inventory management system which was capable to
maintain the ledger reports for each client and supplier
