WORK EXPERIENCE
Applications Developer
Emkay, Inc, Itasca, IL (5/2007 – Present)
Recruited to develop business applications conforming to complex business rules and regulations and to automate
processes to reduce human error. Additionally, developed web pages linking to the existing website, adding new
functionality; and enhanced mobile application for the company’s iOS application.
Technologies Used:
• Applications developed in a mixed environment of Windows/Unix using the DB/C
Programming Language
• Web pages developed in a CATALYST/TOMCAT environment using forms (including
some e-commerce forms), HTML, CSS, JAVA, JAVASCRIPT, XML, AJAX, ReSTful Services, and servlets, using
MVC architectural patterns, using the Eclipse SDK and Dreamweaver and the CVS Repository for source
control.
• iOS apps developed using the XCode SDK on a Macbook Pro and the GIT repository for
source control.
• Intranet pages developed using PHP, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin, and HTML using
Dreamweaver and Notepad++.
Key Contributions:
• Created Weekly Billing System. The system allows the company to bill clients with questionable credit on a
weekly basis to ensure that services rendered are paid for and helps to control unpaid balances by limiting the
accrual time of the balances to weekly rather than the usual monthly timeframe.
• Created Preventative Maintenance Notifications. This is an automatically generated email send to drivers
of our clients who are on an enhanced maintenance service. When a vehicle’s preventative maintenance is due,
the driver will receive notification to perform the maintenance required. Reminders are also sent if the vehicle
never receives the required maintenance. This ensures that a vehicle’s maintenance is completed which helps
lengthen the life of the vehicle and improves resale value of the vehicle. The email is sent as an HTML format
email with graphics.
• Created Online Termination Process. This process allows clients who wish to end their lease agreement or
who wish to purchase their vehicle at the end of the term. This process automated a very user intensive process
of information gathering and made the process for selling an end of term vehicle much easier and more efficient.
The automation reduced errors and increased the turn-around time for re-selling a vehicle, whether it needed to
be done at an auction or sold to the client.
• Provided 24/7 Support. Entrusted with web support responsibility due to knowledge of all the systems
involved, both the front end Tomcat/Apache web server piece as well as the DB/C system back end piece.
Provided 24/7 support to ensure the web site was fully operational in a weekly rotation of 3 developers.
• Help Desk Team Lead. Leadership and teamwork skills led to being entrusted with
leading the effort to complete incoming help desk tickets by assigning tickets to appropriate developers based on
developer skill sets as well as continue to develop other projects.
• Project Lead. Time management and organizational proficiencies contributed to being
entrusted with handling projects from beginning to end including creating test cases, keeping all parties involved
updated on the status of the projects, and following up with end-users when necessary.
