Project1: www.cognizant.com CMS Implementation and iPad

Project Summary: Cognizant has successfully led many technology driven business transformations for its

customers. The company website served as a useful source of information for clients, prospects, investors as well as

employees. Our public facing site www.cognizant.com allows Cognizant to drive brand awareness, deliver marketing

campaigns, build community and share information about their services. But over time, the information and

documents repository on the website grew and it became difficult to manage this large volume of content. In order to

Murugappan Singaram Mobile No: 470-***-****

***************@*****.***

meet the many needs across a business it was important to strive for the number one goal, which has always been to

empower the people who own and create content to also easily publish content. By empowering content creators,

one can rapidly remove the friction between the business and IT. Standardization through the use of templates has

made the site more flexible and easy to manage. It ensures consistency in various sections of the website. Process

has been streamlined. Content authoring and approval workflow mechanism helps in lowering compliance or legal

problems.

Environment: SharePoint 2010, HTML, JavaScript, SQL Server 2008

Project2: Business Continuity Planning

Project Summary: At Cognizant, as at any other global provider of professional services, thousands of projects are

in development at any given time. Many of these projects rely on staff and infrastructure at multiple, far flung sites,

and many of these sites are located where a natural disaster or deliberate disruption is not unlikely. This makes

business continuity planning (BCP) a particularly high priority at Cognizant. In the past, Cognizant followed a

largely manual BCP process. For a given project, the BCP coordinator gathered information on team members, work

locations, systems, network infrastructure, the potential effects of a disruption on the customer, and other details.

With the help of the company’s central BCP team, the coordinator then compiled that information into a set of

documents known as a “BCP plan” and sent those documents through review and approval. By using the BCP portal

to automate what was largely a manual process; Cognizant is developing its BCP plans far more easily and rapidly

than in the past.

Environment: MOSS 2007, InfoPath 2007, HTML, C#, JavaScript, SQL 2005

Project3: CWorld – Cognizant Intranet Portal

Project Summary: The company’s custom built intranet site which sufficed when Cognizant had 5,000

employees and far fewer locations had reached the limits of its scalability as the company grew to 59,500

employees. The persistence of outdated information on the intranet, in turn, led individual practice groups within

Cognizant to create their own intranet sites, which lacked integration with the central site. Cognizant now has in

CWorld, its enterprise wide portal. CWorld is a fusion of Cognizant’s online applications, content database, search

technologies, collaboration tools, and security mechanisms., the new portal enables IT to authorize specific users in

each of the Cognizant business groups to implement changes to their portions of the portal. Enterprise Search

searches not just documents and other files stored in document libraries, but also all the content available as part of

the portal pages. Users can also find colleagues with relevant expertise anywhere in the enterprise, through the

Office SharePoint Server 2007 people search capability, which uses the information that employees provide through

their MySites.

Environment: MOSS 2007, InfoPath 2007, HTML, C#, JavaScript, SQL 2005, .NET, SQL Server Reporting

Services, Web Services

Project4: Global Information Security Portal

Project Summary: This portal aims to be a one stop shop for all your security and compliance related exceptions

and queries in Cognizant. GIS Portal has sub modules like Security Advisory, ILM Workflow and ASRA. Account

Security Risk assessment Multiple projects will be mapped to be one account/client. Hence, when a risk

assessment document is generated, it is generated for the client/account and not for each individual project. In

addition, each account will be split across various facilities / Cities and hence the risk assessment will not be

comprehensive if it is done for separate projects instead of accounts. Account level risk assessment, which will

comprise of data collection from the facility, accounts, applying standard controls, BCP information for that account

and consolidating the same

according to set business rules to arrive to at the final report for the ASRA. The ILM provides a simple interface to

Business / associate and Project manager to track and justify the information leakage.
