2011 to Current Columbus, Ohio
DNV GL Energy Efficiency Engineer
DNV GL was retained by American Electric Power, Inc. (AEP Ohio) to
implement its energy efficiency programs for business customers
eligible for technical and financial support to make their facilities
more energy efficient.
Duties include evaluating energy savings on facility's energy
conservation projects. Submit customer data for Public Utilities
Commission filings. Provide technical support to customers regarding
program requirements. Working knowledge of the Consortium for Energy
Efficiency (CEE), the Energy Star Program, and the Design Lights
Consortium (DLC). Emphasis on energy efficient lighting solutions.
2007 to 2010 Kettering, Ohio
NATIONAL COMPOSITE CENTER Composite/NanoComposite Engineer;
Project Manager
NanoComposite Engineer
Key role in growing the National Composite Center's (NCC)
nanotechnology lab working with Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) which led to
the first commercial production of continuous BuckyPaper, and a spin
off of a new company, Buckeye Composites.
Collaborated with others in the nanotechnology field to assist in
developing innovative nanocomposites and new technologies using a
variety of CNTs. Some partners include GrafTech (thermal management),
NanoTechLabs (aircraft lightning strike), Nanotek (nanographene
platelets) and Applied Sciences Inc. (nanofibers).
Provided NIOSH with performance and data to establish new safety
standards for working with CNTs.
Project Manager
Managed all facets of the OSU/CMPND RCP (Ohio State University/Center
for Multifunctional Polymer Nanomaterials & Devices) Research
Commercialization Program. This covered a variety of projects, some
of which are the following:
Supervised a project with BAE Systems for an armored vehicle design
project, which helped protect US soldiers who use armored vehicles.
Shared this project with one of the NCC's spin off companies,
Composite Advantage.
Coordinated Quickstep (autoclave alternative) projects, including the
production of the thickest composite panel using Quickstep ever
produced to date (4.5 inches thick). Other Quickstep projects
included Huntsman and Lockheed Martin.
Composite Engineer
Assisted in the Sheet Molding Compound Biolite program to produce
green composites using agricultural fillers.
NOTE: Worked at the NCC first six months as contract engineer through
Think Resources 8/07-2/08.

Responsible for all plant quality functions and laboratory management.
Investigated customer concerns and provided appropriate corrective
action in a timely manner.
Implemented, developed and maintained the plant quality system in
compliance with the ISO-9002 standard. This entailed all quality
management responsibilities, corrective and preventative action,
document control, inspection and test status, control of nonconforming
materials, control of quality records, and internal auditing.
Environmental Engineer
Responsible for plant compliance of all environmental regulations and
safe practices.
Managed plant Environmental Management System (EMS), including annual
auditing.
Assured compliance with all federal, state, and local EPA, OSHA, and
DOT regulations and guidelines, including submission of required
reporting. Handled the facility's filing of required permits.
Completed certification and annual training for Hazardous/Toxic Waste
Management, and Sara Title III Form R Reporting.

EQUISTAR CHEMICAL Quality/Process/Production Engineer
& Project Manager Quality Engineer
Responsible for implementing quality functions, laboratory management
and ISO 9000 Coordinator.
Served as interim laboratory superintendent for nine months during
reorganization. Investigated customer concerns and provided
appropriate corrective action in a timely manner.
Project Manager
In charge of a $2.8 million project to add a new compounding line.
This was the largest project for this plant in over a decade.
Successful start up on schedule and under budget.
Process Engineer
Responsible for meeting plant productivity. Duties included project
engineering, production expansion, vendor approval, and company wide
best practices.
Appointed to team member on the Polymer Finishing Technology Center, a
company wide task group to institute best practices for polymer
finishing, increasing operation efficiency.
Team member on a company wide task force to create a new policy for
raw material supplier's systematic approval process. Resulted in
reducing material costs by $80,000/yr. Responsible for training nine
other plants on the new procedures.
Provided technical input to ensure the best-cost benefit value of
operations. Evaluated test runs for new products and existing product
improvements. Implemented all aspects of capital projects for
production equipment upgrades. Assisted in SAP implementation. SAP is
a business integrated software system.
Production Engineer
Responsible for production engineering, product development support,
and quality enhancement.
Developed and maintained database for defining optimum process
efficiency.
Team Leader on Dispersion Task Force responsible for providing
solutions for products consistently failing dispersion requirements.
Solutions developed decreased failure rate by 95%.
