Research Experience
Turn Prohibition Algorithms for Communication Networks 2014 2015
Network with high efficiency and reliability can satisfy human’s demand of massive
information exchanging. Using Python and C, I compared the of accumulative
average delivery latency and dilation of UP/DOWN, SCB and EDA, examined the
performance of them when processing 600 random networks in different topologies
and finally evaluated my modification weighted turn algorithm which showed a
better perspective which can be used in communication networks.
Analysis of Analog modulation Methods 2014 2015
Analog Modulation is used to modify specific characteristics of carrier waves to
make sure that the source messages can be transferred and demodulated
appropriately. I used Matlab to model signals modulated by AM, FM, PM, DSB and
SSB transferring in channels with white noise. Finally FM and SSB showed higher
signal power and lower code errors in communication. This research can be used to
help network companies make smart decision to lower the cost.
Programming solutions for Traveling Salesman Problem 2014 2015
A great amount of Smart Decision Issues can be analyzed as modified Traveling
Salesman Problem. I used Java to implement six different algorithms which can
compute feasible routings for TSP. Finally Nearest Neighbor Algorithm showed less
time complexity and more reliability to process small and middle scale TSP. The
Research provided much programming convenience for further industry researches
in similar topic.
LSIC Wires Distribution Optimization Algorithms 2014 2015
A smart decision of distribution of wires between layers of LSI circuits can improve
the efficiency of chips and lower the cost for manufacturers. I modified this problem
into Integer Programming model and implemented with CPLEX and my own
algorithm programmed in Java. Finally I came to the conclusion that the ideal of
Branch and Bound method showed better performance when processing large
scale integer circuits, which has meaning contribution for circuit manufacturing
industry.
Determining Optical Flow used in smart traffic 2014 2015
It is essential to conduct a research in smart traffic because a rising need for smart
traffic has appeared recently. As the leader of this team, I used C++ together with
OpenCV to process the videos we took on Commonwealth Ave. Finally I succeeded
in illustrated the direction of vehicles with red arrows and calculated the speed of
cars automatically, which was prerequisite for further research of path decision.
Determining the Overlapping Genes of Hepatitis B Virus 2014 2015
More efficient drugs for HBV with less side effect is need. According to DNA series
of HBV, overlapping sequences of bases are in higher risk to produce pathogenic
protein. Using information theory, overlapping bases showed higher joint entropy
and less independent entropy compared with average base pairs. Finally I
succeeded in using Matlab to locate overlapping bases automatically, which
contributed a lot for further researches of drug development.
