PROJECTS Polymerization of Methyl Methacrylate
Fall 2014
. Worked in team of 4 to carry out polymerization reaction
using 3 different solvents including cyclohexane, ethyl
benzene, and toluene
. Test for the rate of polymerization of different solvents,
determine the activation energy, and measured the molecular
weight distribution as well as polydispersity index
. Present the results to professors and peers
Polymer Injection Molding
Fall 2014
. Worked in team of 4 to produce parts by injecting polymer
called Dowlex 2045G into the molding machine
. Test for the crystallinity and tensile properties of the
created parts using the tensile testing machine
. Present the results to professors and peers
Molecular cloning
Spring 2015
. Worked in team of 4 to express and purify large amount of
human protein phosphatase I gamma (hPP1) using E.coli as
the host cells
. Designed appropriate primers to carry out Polymerase chain
reaction (PCR). Used SDS-PAGE to examine the purity of the
cloned DNA
. Presented the results to professors and peers
Protein Fermentation and Separation
Spring 2015
. Worked in team of 4 to carry out large scale fermentation
to produced large quantities of hPP1 in E. coli cells
. Separation of hPP1 protein from E.coli cells using
different methods such as affinity, size exclusion, and ion
exchange chromatography
. Test for the purity of the protein using the SDS-PAGE
and Immunoblotting gel
. Present the results to professor and peers
