Professor Keith Harley to allow for data-driven decisions by the City of Chicago in proposing regulations for the
storage of petroleum coke on the Southeast side of Chicago.
• Delivered a concise report of petroleum coke, focusing on composition and uses, and environmental and health
impacts.
• Investigated the life cycle of petroleum coke with focus on the generation and storage of bulk materials and provided a
summary of best technical practices for the storage and disposal of petroleum coke and existing regulations.

• Designed a polystyrene skimmer collection system that collected 86% of a simulated oil spill with 99% purity.
