ENG INEER ING PROJECTS

SENIOR AIRCRAFT DESIGN PROJECT - D ESIGN AND FABRICATION OF AN AIRCRAFT

Project involved the design and fabrication of an 8lb. aircraft to take off, climb to

m inimum 100 feet above ground level, record and display altitude with the use of Data

Acquisition System (DAS), and laptop, then drop a humanitarian aid package onto a

t arget with use of a First Person View system (FPV), and land intact. A big part of the

p roject was designing a 15lb. static payload with boundaries that fit into the aircraft

w ithout adding any structure to the aircraft design. Also, a 3lb. payload (to simulate

t he humanitarian package) was designed which drops from the aircraft with the use of

t he DAS. The integration of both payloads into the aircraft without exceeding the

weight requirement was a success and the design was one of the best at 2014 SAE Aero

Design Competition.

MOTORIZED LONGBOARD

Project involved design and build of alternative means of t ransportation to incorporate a

longboard with two electric motors at rear wheels, a pulley and belt system, controlled by a

handheld wireless controller and powered by high capacity batteries.
