research, data recovery. Extensive work with accounting agencies, authoring operations and
security policies, and automating their operations with computerized accounting systems. I
retired from education to start this company, with the intent on starting a WiMAX ISP for rural
residents of northern Michigan.
Cheboygan Area Schools
Director of Technology Services, 02/97 – 03/11
Duties included the implementation and maintenance of all technology related equipment in the
District. During the 1998 Cheboygan Area Schools’ building program, I worked as project
manager with the engineer to strategically design the various network platform and security
structure, information hardware needs, and telecommunications structure; assisted in the
evaluation and selection of the installation contractors, and provided direct quality assurance
oversight on their work. I successfully managed a $1.6M technology systems upgrade budget
during this building project. Maintained annual budget of approximately $330,000. I oversaw
the installation of new digital telephone equipment, network hardware and software, and the
introduction of a fiber-optic ATM wide-area network. I selected a new student management
system, and successfully migrated district data to the new platform. I am equally comfortable in
the operation and the design/setup of large network environments. I established professional
development programs for the staff, personally delivering a number of lessons. I maintain my
working knowledge by troubleshooting systems/equipment on a regular basis. Throughout my
tenure with the Cheboygan Area Schools, I have adapted and revised the District Technology
Plan, keeping up with ever-changing technology offerings and all applicable statutory
requirements, including SRSD. I have experience working with the FCC, Public Services
Commission, Universal Service Administrative Company (USF), MDE, and other state and
federal departments. I have been an active Merit Affiliate since 1999, and served as an alternate
representative for K-12. I have successfully sought out grant money to extend my working
budget, and frequently assist teachers in securing grant monies as well.

responsible for most engineering solutions in addition to marketing responsibilities. Under my
leadership, New World Systems Corporation response times in northern Michigan were greatly
reduced by having a dedicated representative.

My duties included marketing AS/400 computers and software for court operation and
management, throughout the United States. A transitional time for JMS, I oversaw or directed the
migration of a majority of their installed System/36 customer base to the AS/400 platform. JMS
was an Agent Representative firm for IBM. In this role I performed both marketing and Systems
Engineering functions. With my PC background, I worked with the programming department on
Personal Computer solutions, integrating them with the AS/400 platform.

I provided personal computer hardware, software, and services to small businesses and for home
use. I have successfully installed network solutions – both wired and wireless, single-user
systems, and Internet access solutions; as well as provided on-going support and education to
clients. Over the past 26 years, I have been actively involved in the “PC Revolution”, following
trends and keeping pace with new technology (i.e. Internet and the world wide web) as it
develops. I did not allow this business to interfere with my profession, and discontinued the
business after time obligations to the school district increased.
