CPA Ontario serves and supports more than 80,000 members and approximately 20,000 students in their
qualification of the accounting designation and ongoing professional development.
Director, Business Applications
Responsible for leadership of the 5 member Business Applications team. Business applications included
customized Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Microsoft Dynamics GP, Sharepoint 2013 and Blackboard LMS. The
Business Applications team is responsible for the maintenance, support and development of all the
applications for the business. The business applications team consists of a DBA (Microsoft SQL Server),
Web and CRM Developer (ASP.NET/C#), a BI architect and a Blackboard administrator. Managed the multi-
million dollar budget of the department.
Implemented several releases of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 system and online portal
component (ASP.NET/C#) for CPA’s students, members and applicants to manage their account,
resulting in a better experience for the customer and reduced calls into the call centre.
Directed implementation of a BI solution for the business, collecting business requirements and
managing the development and testing. Project consisted of the construction of a data warehouse, data
marts, cubes and reports. The BI team took the initiative to develop a sample cube to demonstrate to
the business BI capabilities. This sample cube was ultimately adopted by the business. We then
assisted the business with the specifications of other cubes/data marts.
Presented design of a companywide intranet to the Leadership Team which resulted in buy-in and
approval. Directed development of the intranet from concept to deployment in Microsoft Sharepoint
2013. Company intranets are known to provide a better work experience for employees resulting in
increased productivity.
Researched and deployed SQL Server monitoring tool (Spotlight on SQL) to allow the database team to
proactively tune database performance. This tool helped prevent issues from affecting external
customers, providing them with a better experience and decreased calls into the call centre.
Maintained a 99.7% uptime, including scheduled maintenance, of all systems within the Business
Applications area of responsibility. Working closely with the IT Infrastructure team, any unscheduled
downtime was reacted to immediately and rectified quickly.
Managed timely and accurate creation of T2202A tax receipts for approximately 10,000 students.
Project required extracting data from the CRM system and writing custom scripts to format the data for
official tax receipts.
Canadian Satellite Radio (Sirius XM Radio Canada) 2007 – 2013
SiriusXM is the only satellite radio in Canada – offering 130 channels of commercial-free music, talk, comedy
and sports.
Senior Manager, IT Operations 2012 – 2013
Led the 7 member BRM support team consisting of a DBAs, application operations members and release
management responsibilities. Liaised with the Price-Waterhouse Audit team to provide data to enable yearly

and quarterly audits on both Sirius and XM systems. Worked closely with the Accounting team to provide
necessary reporting from the billing and finance systems.

Spearheaded the implementation of the Sirius billing system in Canada, to take over the day-to-day
operation from Sirius XM US. This required 3 months of training in the US, followed by 9 months of
system construction. This system is an Oracle product called BRM, and is comprised of Unix
application, Oracle DB and Web interface components.
Senior Manager, Application Development and Reporting 2007 – 2012
Led organization’s application development and reporting department to enhance the subscriber’s
experience, reduce company costs and provide the right information to make key business decisions.
Responsible for creating, implementing and maintaining a rotating 24/7 support schedule of all systems –
reporting, applications, database and web sites. Critical management duties included problem solving,
mentoring staff, meeting with clients and vendors, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, managing the $500K
departmental budget and preparing and delivering performance reviews.
Directed and managed a focused 3 member team of MSSQL database and .NET application
development professionals to build, enhance and customize the company ’s billing system, internal and
external web sites and financial and business reporting. These enhancements and fixes enabled the company
to provide the customer base with a better online experience driving a subscription increase.
Managed the development of an enterprise reporting system utilizing SQL Server Integration Services
and SQL Server Reporting Services. Utilized a third-party tool called Excelsius to provide a dashboard
of subscriber statistics to Executive Management.
Spearheaded development and deployment of a secure web service library across the organization to
enhance the company’s billing system, eStore and CRM layer. This library was developed in VB.NET
and C#.NET. This provided the organization increased flexibility in the graphical layer of the various web
sites and support applications, resulting in a significant decrease in calls to the call centre and providing
subscribers an enhanced experience.
Led development and deployment of several complex data-driven web sites, utilizing the web service
library. Some of these include MyXM, a web site for end-users to view and make changes to their
account, which is currently servicing over 30,000 subscribers, and a Listener Care suite, which provides
listener care representatives enhanced tools to assist subscribers, decreasing call handle time by 25%
and resulting in revenue generation. Developed in VB.NET and C#.NET.

PostLinx is a leading data-to-mail and direct marketing communications service provider.
Manager, Information Technology 2000 – 2006
Managed and participated in the day-to-day operations of the company’s IT Department to meet and exceed
customer’s expectations. Conduct year-end employee, salary reviews and appropriate staffing levels.
Responsible for departmental budget. Supported the entire organization’s network and hardware backbone
ensuring 99.9% availability in a 24/5 operation. Utilized proprietary print software (PrintSoft PReS), MSSQL,
.NET and Visual Foxpro. IT Team size varied from 10 to 18 during my tenure.
Increased productivity by 50% while lowering costs by identifying new technologies within the industry.
Played a vital role in the research and implementation of the ERP solution. Integrated production
control systems with the ERP system which resulted in quicker, more efficient and more accurate invoice
production. Decreased invoice preparation time by 50%.
Led design and development teams to create and implement software to build custom MRFP booklets
for numerous mutual fund organizations. While adhering to strict legislation from the Ontario Securities
Commission, the MRFP booklets were successfully distributed allowing the mutual fund companies to
avoid any and all penalties.

Increased productivity in IT and laser printing departments by implementing a software solution (Active
Batch) to automate daily, weekly and monthly processing applications as well as the creation of print
spool files. Solution also resulted in more accurate processing due to automation.
Vitally supported internal applications including inventory, timesheet and production control to ensure
functionality and maintained business continuity for all departments across the organization.
Presented with award from the CMA for ingenuity for development of an order management and
fulfilment system of CD ROM applications. The fulfilment system packaged the CD’s in the most cost
effective manner, allowing customers to save considerable money on postage.
Directed physical move of organization to a facility of over 150,000 square feet. The move consisted of
15 servers and over 100 desktops. Recommended and implemented improvements to network during
move.
Led data team to ISO certification. Assisted in overall ISO initiative achieving auditor status and
conducting companywide audits. Resulted in additional customers due to strict quality control.
