PROJECTS:
• Garden Hose Spray Nozzle – Reverse engineered the Gilmore Select-A-spray garden hose nozzle implementing GD&T and FMEA
principles on Creo to overcome inherent operational issues using Creo Advanced Simulation Extension. Proposing design and
material changes based on DFM and DFA principles to improve manufacturability and assembly efficiency. Adhering to ASME and
ANSI codes for industry compliance.
• Oreo Cream Separator – Developing a ground breaking product to separate cream from Oreo biscuits. Implementing product
development processes, prototyping and user testing. Proposing material and manufacturing processes for productizing following
DFA and DFM principles for efficient manufacturing and market capture. Carried out analysis on Creo Simulate and assembly
interface testing on Creo Tolerance Analysis.
• Microsurgical Trainer – Developing a Microsurgical trainer for Anschutz Medical Center, University of Denver to improve hand-eye
coordination and simulate microsurgery scenarios for dexterity practice. Applied product development principles through design
thinking and mind mapping on CREO 2.0 followed by user testing principles, implementing ASME and ANSI codes. US Patent No.
62119498.
• Truss Topology – Designed a truss system employing linear programming and design optimization techniques through CVX platform.
Incorporated minimum member length and maximum member length constraint on design to determine optimal design. System can
be used for variety of loading and span conditions.
• Digital Handwriting Recognition System – Devised a system code that can identify number images with 95.4% accuracy using
linear programming on MATLAB and CVX platform, implementing design optimization techniques. The system can be used for
classifying various other data sets.
• Clip-Less Pedal Attachment – Designed a clip-less bike pedal attachment prototype for casual riding, which snap-fits over clip-less
road bike pedals. Implementing product development cycle principles facilitated by prototyping and user testing. Designed and
conceptualization based on operational issues of pre-existing products and market need.
• Effects of vents and slots in disc brake – Case study research project on types of automotive braking systems. Drafted Solidworks
models with varying composition of slots and vents paired with common disc brake materials. Performed FEA ANSYS analysis of
temperature dissipation and Von-Mises stress due to braking force and heat sink build up.
• Internal structural refurbishment of Western India Engg. Co., – Generated CAD models of cantilever roof shed trusses for various
projects with span ranging from 24-50 ft. Material selection based on designing index considering ANSI codes. Employing PRO/E and
ANSYS softwares for modeling and stress analysis.
• BAJA Racing : Red Shift Racing Team 2012 – Chassis design team, designed and manufactured a buggy vehicle with a budget of
$5821. Adapted a body-on-frame chassis system resulting in a light weight 188kg vehicle. Finished ranked 62 nd at SAE BAJA racing
competition 2012, Auburn USA.
• TEAM SOBO-ROV – Designed and manufactured a prototype underwater ROV showcasing the economic and technical feasibility of
locally manufactured ROVs for coastal surveillance. The prototype cruised at a speed of 1.2 knots up to a depth of 100 meters and
costs only ~$1351 with a surveillance range of 100 meters.
