$1.3 million annually. Strategies included: Virtual Desktops and Applications, Mobile Device Management, and
Internal and External Cloud Computing for File Storage and server augmentation. Implementation of VMware’s

• Analysis, purchase, and conversion of an Oracle ExaData machine, resulting in $250K annual savings
• Provided leadership to various teams in the stabilization and tuning of many critical systems. This resulted in
99.95% availability and high performing systems.
• Databases included numerous and large instances of Oracle, IBM’s DB2 and Microsoft SQL server
• Design and implementation of storage array technologies for long distance replication of Disaster recovery
databases and the creation of local copies for use as Quality Assurance and Development
• Planning and the tracking of usage for all disk storage, tape storage, and databases.
• Decommissioned the IBM Mainframe environment resulting in $100K+ monthly savings.

The creation and leadership of a new Quality Assurance department to include change control functions, quality
certification, disaster recovery, and business resumption.
• Budgetary responsibilities of approximately $3.5M+ annually. Cut costs by $500K+ per year through extensive
capacity studies and the eventual “downsizing” of the mainframe environment.
• Mentored and developed 3 department managers and their direct reports to form Change control, Quality
Assurance, and Business Continuity department
• Planning and testing of disaster recovery of critical application systems and related hardware, coupled with
Sarbanes Oxley compliancy for mainframe and open system databases
• Backups and recovery of 500+ Windows and open systems platforms, and mainframe systems
• Planning and implementation of the first service disk solution for the enterprise to include help desk ticketing and
change control

Managed the activities, long-term projects, and personnel for the Technical Services Section
• Capital and expense budget of over $6M
• Contract negotiations with key vendors to reduce. Identified savings through the removal of obsolete “shelf-
ware” which resulted in savings in excess of $1.75M annually.
• Implementation, and tuning of the DB2 databases to support PeopleSoft Financial and HR systems.
• Complete technology refresh of the data center’s disk and tape subsystems with “State of the Art” equipment.
Lead the equipment “Request for Proposal” process for the equipment and software from conception to
completion. Responsibilities included implementation of “flash copy” backup technology for the creation of
multiple development and quality assurance environments for the PeopleSoft infrastructure.
• Negotiated with “hot-site” providers to achieve a 30% reduction disaster recovery in costs.
• Implementation and coordination the conversion to System Managed Storage (SMS)
• Capacity planning and tuning of three MVS/SYSPLEX partitions on an IBM mainframe processors
• Stabilization and documentation of all System components, which were “crashing” due to inferior maintenance
procedures, extremely back leveled software, and a lack of documentation and standards.
• Excellent working knowledge of the Assembler language. This talent was utilized to develop numerous in-house
written and functional systems. Have developed and implemented complete systems such as a Change Control
System, a Job scheduling system and many system management reports.
