Objective
My objective is to secure full time employment as a registered nurse utilizing my experience in
surgery, anesthesia and critical care medicine.
Experience
The Johns Hopkins Hospital December 2011-Present
Prepare patients and their family for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery to include CABG,
MVR, AAA repair, VATS, Medialstinoscopy, Electrical Physiology Studies, Cardio versions,
Heart Catheterizations, Ablations, and Pacemaker insertions. Supervising and maintaining a
successful recovery of patients from general anesthesia and conscious sedation. Educating those
same patients and their families in the care of their procedures to include discharge education,
wound care, medication regimen, and follow-up with their physicians. Perform arterial
catheter/line removals, both femoral and radial access when necessary. Step in and perform the
duties of charge nurse when needed. Member of quality improvement committee, which include
learning and educating staff on EBP, current changes in documentation and safe practice for
positive patient outcomes. Member of pre-operative patient phone call committee, assure that
patients are prepared for their procedures prior to entering the hospital. Performing many tasks of
a case manager in conjunction with pre-operative phone calls. Member of service excellence
committee, relaying information back to staff on how to ensure best possible hospital experience
for each patient.
Clinical One Staffing and LRS Healthcare October 2010-December 2011
Worked as a travel nurse in Maryland and North Carolina in the areas of critical care and post
anesthesia units. Worked as a circulator, patient advocate, educator, and resource for team
members and staff. Ages of patients range from newborn to geriatric. Performed as both an
operating room circulator and post anesthesia care unit RN in all types of surgeries being
performed. Worked as a team player taking my fair share of call in the evenings, weekends and
holidays.
Thomas Johnson Surgery Center September 2009-September 2010
Proficient as a Clinical Coordinator, Manager of Infection Control, Staff Scheduler, Maintained
Par levels of surgical materials and instruments, and overseer of daily operations including all
documentation, surgical, pre- and post-operative cases. Initiated monthly quality improvement
reports for administrator and physician owned panel. Responsible for the proper and smooth
daily operations of the center. Worked daily in any capacity needed to accomplish efficient, safe
patient running of the center.
Surgery Center of Rockville, MD August 2007-September 2009
Employed as Operating Room Manager, Circulator of the operating room and endo suite, and
Manager of materials and instrumentation maintaining par levels, and ordering for daily cases.
Scheduling duties to include those of staff and patient procedures, and was responsible for
generating monthly QI reports. Duties also included responsibilities as listed above, and Rapid
Response Team Coordinator.
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital November 2002-August 2007
Served as an Operating Room Staff Nurse, demonstrating proficiency in all On-Call cases. Later
served as preceptor and resource for OR staff and team members. Completed CNOR certification
during this time, eventually co-facilitating a CNOR study group.
