Master Brand Cabinet Grants Pass, Or
Production Supervisor February 2014 to
April 28, 2015
Supervised over 80 people in the Finishing Department of cabinet components.
Learned Lean Manufacturing Processes and integrated them into my daily
responsibilities. Monitored associate safety, department quality, and productivity
hourly in all areas of the department; and addressed issues as needed. Ensured
the product coming into and out of the department met quality standards. Issued
verbal and written warning for safety and performance issues, and kept solid
documentation on all occurrences. Created pivot tables in excel to track the top
issues in defects and scrapped product, and implemented solutions to improve
departmental performance. I was a member of the Safety Committee and
implemented new ideas to improve Safety for the entire facility. I was on 3 Kaizen
Events (make for the better), and was the team leader on the third. We
implemented team decided ideas to improve safety and quality in other
departments; presented a Power Point presentation to all levels of management.
Kept track of, and approved employee time off requests, and daily was in charge
of keeping track of employees working hours in Kronos.

My main duty as the Operations Manager was being in charge of the contract
manufacturing division. Once hired, I designed and implemented JIT processes for
raw materials (from aluminum and steel to sensitive precision electronic devices),
as well as developing a comprehensive inventory control process, a basic
standard of operations in quality control and material/parts inspection, assembly,
and shipping and receiving. Other duties were, scheduling production for the
machine shop, preventative maintenance scheduling, fabrication, painting and
plating, and assembly. Often I coordinated with outside vendors to meet the
demands of the Gantt chart supported ordering system that I developed with the
lead design engineer; along with a system called Pedyn that is a "piggy back"
Microsoft Access program. This required using purchase orders, quotes of cost
assessment, and lead times. I also introduced OSHA approved safety
requirements, personal safety equipment, and other safety related processes.
Other duties were more along the lines of a human resources, such as:
interviewing, hiring, training, reprimanding, and documenting employee issues.

Directly supervised over 30 employes in the plywood production department on a
daily basis. Conducted monthly safety and production requirement meetings and
employee job performance reviews. Weekly meetings in sales forecasts and
market conditions. Daily work in employee time keeping using Kronos, Excel
spreadsheets, and Word documentation. In charge of daily production quotas,
production and maintenance department scheduling/preventative maintenance,
and all aspect of month end, quarter, and fiscal ending inventories. Trained
employees on lock-out/tag-out, OSHA laws, and was the plywood facility leader for
the safety committee program. Implemented changes to the departments safety
program, and led tours and employee audits for lock-out and PPE. Served as the
liaison between personnel/shop steward, and upper management in a hourly
employee Union environment. Additional responsibilities included troubleshooting
production and mechanical problems, logging/reporting/implementing/enforcing
changes that needed to be made in order to increase production, quality, and the
safety of all employees.

Directly supervised over 40 people in the plywood production department on a
daily basis. Set, adjusted, and maintained production machinery for maximum
quality, safety, and productivity. Coordinated transportation of materials and other
consumable products by road and railroad for incoming and outgoing deliveries
schedules. Trained and cross trained new employees on a variety of production
jobs, lock- out/ tag-out safety, and OSHA compliance. Analyzed, logged, and
implemented changes in personnel, production data, waste recovery, and on-
grade products to increase safe productivity. Completed daily performance reports
using Excel, PMS, MP2, and Kronos. Was a leader of the hiring/firing committee,
safety committee, and assisted in sales seminars for global salespersons. Weekly
meetings to assist in forecast budgeting, personnel needs, economic trends,
safety and market conditions. Assisted the mill Safety Manager in implementing
the SHARPS safety program to all departments within the facility; and trained
employees accordingly. Worked with the sales department on the East Coast to fill
customer orders and schedule shipment. Scheduled department requirements to
meet those scheduled demands. Daily and monthly inventories of all in house
products, customer service and order claims, ordered and inventories production
products.
