• Private addresses cannot directly communicate to hosts outside the local subnet
• The default gateway address must be on the same subnet as the ip address for the
host.
• Use the ‘route’ command to display the contents of the routing table or to add or
remove static routes
• ‘route print’ or ‘netstat –r’ displays the contents of the routing table
• If remote clients are being assigned an IP address on the same subnet as private
network, make sure the proxy arp is enabled on the LAN interface of the remote
access server. ; If the remote client are been assigned an ip on a different subnet
t han the private network, make sure the remote access server has routing
configured to route packets between the remote clients and the private network.
• Bluetooth uses the 2.4 GHZ RF range
• To make a mac address into a ipv6 adress you must split the 48 bit address in two
t hen add FFFE in the middle, then place i t in 4 octet 64 bit. When you do this, the
U niversal/Local (U/L) WH ICH IS THE 7TH b it needs to be other than zero
(essentially BINARY 1) ex:
M ac= 20-0C-FB-BC-A0-07
I PV6= 220C:FBFF:FEBC:A007
Reliable Transport Protocol (RTP) is used by EIGRP (enhanced interior gateway routing) to deliver
packets to neighboring routers in a guaranteed, ordered manner. RTP:
• Supports intermixed transmission of unicast or multicast packets.
• Only reliably sends certain EIGRP packets.
• Sends hello packets that contain an indicator as to whether or not the packet needs to be
acknowledged by the recipient.
• Ensures low convergence time by sending packets even when unacknowledged packets
are pending.
• Fiber optic standards that use ‘W’ uses Sonet
