Related Experience
At present I am part of a work-study program at Ner Israel Rabbinical College working as a
Software Developer. The project that I have been working on involved designing a digital
display board commemorating donors of the institution by displaying their names on plaques
on the anniversary of their day of death. The names and dates of the individuals dates of death
are uploaded from a file from a database or entered using a form and stored within an internal
database within the application. The current date is then matched against each individuals date
of death and for every match found the matching name is uploaded for display on a plaque on
the display board. When a new day begins, this cycle is repeated. The user is given the option
of design and layout of the plaques as well as control over the overall display. The project
involved uses complex algorithms, design patterns, communication between models, graphical
user interface and database storage and retrieval, HTML and style sheets (CSS equivalent).
Mostly, I worked independently which required using initiative and independent decision
making. I would then obtain user feedback from my supervisor, co-workers and managers and
make adjustments to the next incrementation. The program was developed using C++ and the
Qt. 4.6 Integrated Development Environment.
