Major Responsibilities:
•Fully responsible for pre-job planning and mobilization.
•Operating and maintaining a real-time computer-based data acquisition system, the advanced logging system
which records all aspects of rig activity.
•Supervision and coordination of all aspects of geological well site operations with contractors and the company to
ensure that well objectives are achieved on time.
•Send geological reports to the office each morning giving details of the drilling activities, lithologies encountered,
assignment of stratigraphic tops, cutting description, hydrocarbon shows, gas analysis, correlations, MWD/LWD and
directional drilling data etc.
•Identification of lithostratigraphic boundaries, casing setting depths and core points. Analysis of cuttings including
its sedimentological interpretation, shows and reservoir quality: clastics and carbonates. Porosity and permeability
estimation from cuttings and picking conventional core points making onsite description.
•Monitor and evaluate all data in order to identify abnormal indications of unforeseen or hazardous events, inform
the relevant drilling personnel of potential dangers, indications of drilling assembly wear/failure, etc.
•Liaising with town and advising, at any time of the day or night, regarding possible changes to or sidetracks from
either the planned wells or current well paths as well as provide both assistance and guidance to the drillers in
drawing up any new sidetrack proposals or revisions to the original planned well paths in order to reach the
requested targets more efficiently.
•Advise the drilling personnel of any significant lithology change, or other geological parameter, which might affect
the safe and efficient drilling of the well.
•Previewing all ASCII or LAS log and survey data given to the client by the contractors in the field for both accuracy
and completeness as well as promptly transmitting the same data to town electronically.
•Perform Local Risk Assessments to ensure that hazardous operations are minimized, controlled or procedures are
put in place to minimize the hazardous nature of the operation
•Assist the head subsurface operations in the integrated analysis of well data and in preparing intermediate and
final well report.
