The Gerent Group, LLC
Calgary, Alberta
To Whom This May Concern:
I am currently interested in the Regional Manager- Western Division position at the Calgary, Alberta location.
Commencing from an education standpoint, I have completed in 2006 a four-year Bachelor of Management
Degree with the University of Lethbridge with a major in Business Management and a minor in Logistics and
Marketing.
In a professional capacity, I have attained extensive experience in railway asset procurement, sourcing, sub-
lease creation, equipment budgeting, logistics modeling, distribution, supply/demand analysis, corporate
metrics creation and project implementation while working with Canadian Pacific Ltd (CP). Valuable
attributes that I have attainted while working in my current role as Manager Railcar Sourcing, Deprescription,
and Budgets with CP includes leading and managing the sourcing and procurement efforts at CP with respects
to railcar acquisitions through the administration of RFP/RFI along with proposal reviews and negotiations.
Furthermore, critical negotiation skills related to leasing and finance agreements. In addition, developed long-
term planning skills with regards to the creation of the Multi-Year Planning strategy for CP’s rail assets.
Additional attributes that I have attained while working in my previous role of Manager Asset Management
with CP included management of a team of seven diverse Equipment Coordinators, with a portfolio of over
$400 million in rail assets including Automotive Multi-Levels and Industrial Covered Hoppers. While
working the automotive portfolio I became a subject matter expert in the TTX Multi-level Reload Pool
dynamics/logistics, including being part of the TTX Reload Steering Committee from 2010 to 2013 as a
member for CP. In addition, corporate score carding for development, implementation, and tracking for
compliance toward reaching corporate goals and objectives for the Automotive Multi-Level fleet.
Furthermore, I have managed the expectations and regulatory requirements from Canada Customs, Canadian
Transportation Agency (CTA), U.S Customs, and the U.S Surface Transportation Board (STB) rules and
regulations with regards to cross border rail movements and remission tax processes. I have accomplished
reaching an agreement with a competing Canadian railway to participate in a shared automotive reload pool
in Canada. This agreement has resulted in fleet distribution synergies for both railways to meet mutual
customer agreements across Canada and create cost effective solutions.
Furthermore, enhanced demand modeling and resource planning was attain while advising as a consultant for
4 months for a small construction and renovation company, Adriatica Investments Ltd in the summer of 2013
while still maintaining my obligations at CP. While consulting with Adriatica Investments, I conducted
several reviews on the resource planning and demand modeling procedures to identify shortcoming and areas
for improvement. As a result, recommendations was created on how to improve resource planning and
demand modeling to optimize use of company resources to maximize profitability while reducing idle
employee and sub-contractor down time. The recommendations resulted in improved response times and
distribution of company resources and assets by 4 weeks, allowing company to secure new contracts and
projects.
Additionally, while working as a Business Analyst at CP, I have attained expertise and knowledge with
regards to supply/demand forecasting to ensure CP had adequate supply based on customer demand, while
factoring cycle time analysis. In addition, in order to meet demand requirements, negotiation of lease
agreements with various leasing and finance companies were conducted to attain sufficient rail equipment.
Once leases were secured, monthly good receipting was conducted to convey to the accounting department
the correct number of rail cars to be invoiced by the leasing companies. This ensured budget requirements
were met and recorded. Additionally, business cases were created to justify capital expenditures to upper
management for additional projects, which yielded higher revenues and lower rail car expenses.
As a result, my work experience and education has led to development of excellent management, analytical,
and leadership skills. In addition, a broad range of computer skills was acquired. Systems include advanced
knowledge of Apple Mac Software, Microsoft office applications, Business Objects, SAP, and proprietary
programs such as DELTA, Nexus, PeopleSoft Gateway, Ruma, Tyes, and Vista GUI. These skills will assist
The Gerent Group well as help feed the desire to succeed.
Motivated to achieve success through hard work, currently career mined to excel within the company
organizational structure. My strong managerial and communication skills will prepare me to work with
clients, internal and external stakeholders and their beneficiaries.
My current work experience, education, motivation, passion, and commitment to organize and carry out new
challenges and tasks will serve The Gerent Group well. I would appreciate having an interview with you at a
time that is convenient for yourself. Please call me at 403-***-**** to arrange an interview.
