PROJECT DETAILS
1. Data Provisioning - Custody Data Warehouse
Duration: Since Dec-11
Client: HSBC UK
Technology: IBM InfoSphere Datastage 8.5/9.1, Change Data Capture (CDC)
6.3/10.2, Unix/Linux, Oracle, MQ.
Methodology: Agile Development & Test Driven Development
Domain: Equities - Custody and Securities
Project Details:
The purpose of the project is to act as a Golden Source for Custody related
information like Securities, Trades, Corporate Actions, Entitlements,
Holdings, Cash and Security positions etc.
The warehouse was sourced from primary custody systems in HSBC - Global
Custody and Asia Custody. It also gets the cash information and Forex
information from other HSBC systems. Primary purpose of this data is to
feed the Corporate Action processing engine "BaNCS". Once the Corporate
Actions are processed by BaNCS, the information is fed back to the
warehouse. In addition to this warehouse also provides information to other
consumers like - Option Election Data Store, Tax printing, Prime Marts,
HSBC Portal Marts, Custody Reporting Marts, Cash Forecasting etc.
Role:
. Planning and implementation of Evergreening - From Datastage 8.5 on AIX
to Datastage 9.1 on Linux
. Drive the Design - High level and Low level for the requirements and
issues in testing or implementation
. Handle the offshore team from delivery perspective - mentor them and help
the deliveries
. Analysis of source systems to identify the data element required for the
warehouse
. Define and document the data flows and interfaces with the producers and
consumers
. Define mapping and lineage documents
. Planning and implementing projects from identification, research,
analysis, design, execution, testing and roll-out side
. Coordinating with teams from UK, HK, India, Malaysia to integrate IT with
business systems and processes
2. Call Usage Data Mart
Duration: Nov-10 To Nov-11
Client: Vodafone India and IBM India
Technology: IBM InfoSphere Datastage, Unix, Oracle, Taradata.
Methodology: Agile Development
Domain: Telecom
Project Details:
The purpose of the project was to create a single Data Warehouse from
Reporting point of view. Earlier each circle was having their own reporting
manual or through individual systems. Providing a single unified view
across the whole country with 23 circles was key driver. The challenge was
size of the data which was around 500 GB in a day.
Role:
. Migration of Teradata implementation to Datastage and Oracle
. Performance tuning of the implementation to implement D-1 reports which
were earlier D-3
. High level and Low level design
. Discuss business reporting for the Country level business as well as
individual department/circles requirements
. Identify the critical data elements, reference and transaction data
sources, interfaces with sources for the warehouse
. Define a single common message format and minimum quality requirement for
providing data for all 23 circles
. Provide a plan and guidance for the circles to certify them while moving
onto common message format
. Conduct meetings with environment, testing, development, support teams to
guide them over the course of the project
. Define the aggregation requirements for reporting requirements
3. Group Economic Capital
Duration: Apr-07 To Oct-10
Client: HSBC UK
Technology: QlikView, IBM InfoSphere Datastage, Unix, SQL Server, Windows
2003 Server, Risk Frontier.
Methodology: Waterfall Development
Domain: Credit Risk - Economic Capital and Basel II
Project Details:
The objective of the project was to develop the HSBC EC framework. The
project used a third party Economic Capital Calculation engine "Risk
Frontier Portfolio Manager" (RFPM). The system was developed to feed the
Credit risk coming from source systems data to this tool in the expected
format. Then the risk analysis was done by the tool and economic capital
data was produced. The system also extracted the risk calculation results
back to GEC database.
Role:
. Investigation of Data Elements required for Risk Frontier and HSBC Global
Credit Risk Systems to define mapping
. Discussions with Credit Risk systems re Data provision and formats
. Discussion with business re various reports like Expected loss, VaR,
Industry, Country Exposures; then design data flow from RFPM to GEC model
for reporting purpose
. Documentation of Data Flows, Interfaces and mapping documents from Source
to GEC, GEC to RFPM and RFPM to GEC
. Coordination with Business, IT Support, Vendors, Testers and Development
teams
4. AGREE - A Generic Reconciliation Enterprise Engine
Duration: Aug-04 To Mar-07
Client: HSBC UK
Technology: IBM InfoSphere Datastage, SOA, Unix, DB2, Java.
Methodology: Waterfall Development
Domain: Credit Risk - Basel II
Project Details:
This system was designed to reconcile the difference before considering the
data for Risk calculations. There were 2 inputs from source systems called
as master or true data and slave data. The system was designed to compare,
report and repair the differences.
Role:
. Requirement discussions and documentation
. Technical and functional documentation - Data model, mapping and
interface definitions
. Discussions with risk systems GLEAM and Customer systems GCDU for
designing interfaces
. Identifying data elements for posting the repaired differences back to
source system GLEAM
